  1. Some can be rather arrogant and have poor communication skills and some simply don't have the capacity to improve. The level they are at is quite possibly the limit of their skills. At every level there'll be some refs who are very good and some who are borderline for that level, it has always been so. I think the training and selection procedures are, at least in part, responsible. However, football associations will be under pressure to have people graduate so may not be strict enough in their assessment. One thing I will say is that having a seen a few women referees at various levels their communication is often better than their male counterparts.
  2. The drop off in referees is alaming. Apparently they are leaving the game in droves because of coach and spectator abuse. If fewer are going to courses then the pool of talent is going to become shallower and the shallower it becomes the more often you're going to see referees of lower ability taking matches. Football only has itself to blame for this and everyone involved should reflect on this question: What happens when there are no more referees left?
  3. Good point. The area behind the station end goal is an eyesore. Multi levelled, areas cordoned off for over a year, an area of rubble covered with artificial turf, a beaten up booth near the entrance and a bare fence looking directly into Weir's yard. It must give one of the poorest first impressions of any of the WoSFL Premier League grounds. Given that a fair number of elderly people support the Lie, it should be a priority to get that area fixed.
