  1. Dodds can be judged for results and style on the pitch. I think the majority of fans have decided, plus many players.

As for John Robertson I listened to the podcast with the CEO in November last weekend. He described JR as not only a Sporting Director, but performing 3 other roles.

These are overseeing the west stand which is irrelevant, it’s shelved while fundraising. A club ambassador, who spends his weekends commentating for Ross County or selling his book at Tynecastle. He’s apparently overseeing the community hub. Finally, as Sporting Director he has lost his eye for a player, our recruitment has been mainly awful. He’s failing in his “role” and should leave.

The CEO,  brought us PUMA kits, a new website (?) and initially got us fees for departing players (which in fairness he said he would do) but he has done little right since.

The Concert Company was entirely his fault and the Pixellot camera was a total disaster amongst others. He  mentioned the club will be sourcing external funding from a Battery Farm and will benefit from the Freeport - where’s any update on this? If the external funding doesn’t come to fruition, he hasn’t justified his large salary and should leave too.

The baldy sports scientist? The Maltese Doctor? Barry Wilson? Have they improved things?

    Bottom of the league.

Last season I came in for flak from some quarters for posting my thoughts on Dodds poor management, I posted exactly how I saw the shite being played out on the park, excuses were frequently being trotted out on here and in the media putting the problem directly onto an injury crisis which to me was an obvious deflection from Dodds poor tactical nous and man management.

Thankfully I now see we are all on the same page.

Problem is we have a financial problem which means this fool will continue.

The problem is our issues run deeper than just Dodds. The CEO and Sporting Director should receive equal scrutiny, those two are every bit as guilty as the manager. The squad isn’t good enough either. I agree it’s a jobs for the boys outfit with the CEO and SD, making a quick fix all the more difficult.

I would recommend steering clear of making this a told you so situation, it’s slightly odd trying to make it about you.

I was described as being pro Dodds for maintaining (I still maintain) that while Dodds isn’t a good manager, injuries were the biggest problem last season which was proven correct. You aren’t proving anyone wrong unfortunately. This season however there’s no excuses.

If we think we can get through the season with Devine, Delaney and Duffy as our CBs we may as well start preparing for life in League 1.

I’d say around half our squad is comfortably league 1 standard or worse.

Where do folk think we will finish this season? I think the current squad could slip into the bottom 2. I don’t think a better manager would get us any higher than 7th.

Most of the prize money last season has been paid to the folk who have been putting money in.

Perhaps the board have decided not to aim for promotion this season, tighten the belts and hope for mid table and cut the losses or turn a profit (wishful thinking).

That’s possible. I’ve been told it’s not uncommon for some championship teams to select certain seasons for throwing the kitchen sink at it (not saying that’s what we’re doing.)

There’s a good 6 figures between Gardiner and Robertson that would be handy just now. I’m advocating for @SandyCromarty to interview the CEO on the podcast. We need answers in regards to the Freeport and Battery Storage.

That didn't work out too well last season, with crowds dropping. The board will barely notice.

Interesting chat happening over on CTO. Worth keeping an eye on, see if folk are up taking some action, rather than inaction.

It could’ve been walkups on the opening day increasing the attendance but has the crowd actually dropped compared to last season? I think there was slightly more than 2000 against QP which isn’t less than the season before.

  6. I have been told a fair number of the players don’t like Dodds, with some wanting him gone. This is from a very good source.

Apparently he also refused to manage the team in the final if he wasn’t given a new contract, I am unsure of the source on this one. He signed the new deal on either the day of the final or the day prior IIRC.

This might not be news to some of the Dodds Out fans.

  7. I watched Inverness’ highlights video so it could be biased but that reaffirmed my opinion. Queens are 100% the better footballing team but the game is won or lost in both boxes. The goals we conceded were gifts / poor and the majority of the decent chances were created by us. It feels more so like we defeated ourselves.

  8. The problem is the entire defence has mistakes in them, every single player. I would suggest Queens Parks defence was stinky last season but they had so much going forward they were often protected and not exposed.

I’m not saying don’t sign a defender but we need to look at who’s in front and inviting issues onto the defence too. One defender might not be the silver bullet we’re hoping for.

Hypothetically, if we added Welsh and McAlear for their ball retention and Logan Chalmers on the right that defence wouldn’t be anywhere near as exposed. A winger sorts this defensive catastrophe.

  9. Queens seem slightly less attractive to me this season but appear to have added a bit of physicality and bite. Still technically gifted though and certainly aren’t finishing anywhere near the bottom.

I didn’t think there was too much in the match excluding towards the end when it became untidy and rushed from ourselves. That’s to be expected when playing Lewis Hyde and Carson in the middle. I thought we created slightly more good chances while queens played the nicer football.

I think we lack pace, match winners and flair. A pretty basic, one dimensional team that without additions will huff and puff our way to 8th. Someone like Logan Chalmers is needed.

It was clear after about 30 seconds last night to me and others around me, including Ross Tokely, that Airdrie had an extra (and free) man in the centre of the park and were easily able to shift the ball through him to their wide men and striker with ease.

Our shape only changed when we were 2-0 down and chasing the game. The f**k is the point reacting at that point?

The goalkeeper playing a sweeper role was often their free man too. Anyone know why Welsh wasn’t playing?

The relative success of the high press was more a function of Airdrie being knackered and still led to us conceding the winner due to the space we were leaving at the back.

Dodds needs to be starting his best XI against Dundee so we can at least try to breed some understanding into our defence before the league starts.

Airdrie were the better team until we scored in the second half still. Yes the high press was much better than watching the usual shite but it was only so effective because Airdrie were buggered after doing the same thing to us for an hour.

It was a better second half performance but no more than that.

To be honest that’s Airdries style and we nullified it by pressing high. I’m not sure their suspected fatigue dictated them playing that way, it’s just the way they play.

Fair enough if you only consider the difference between both halves as being “better but nothing more.” The first half was atrocious, the second half we were very good in my opinion and the gulf was large, especially the final 30.

We’ll see how things play out going into the league season but I’m not confident with the current squad, 2 or 3 additions are needed. Logan Chalmers, Reece McAlear and a centre back. The defence smells of multiple Brad McKays and we haven’t replaced the deadly final ball of Jay Henderson which will be tough, probably impossible.

I wouldn’t go as far to say we were excellent in the second half but it was better than the first. The concerning part of it is that I think it was mostly down to the Airdrie getting tired. They looked like they were blowing out their arses with about 20 mins to go and that is when we managed to get back into the game and really on top.

I think it was more than just better. The high press we deployed was excellent and ultimately got us back into the match. I know I preferred that than the usual hopeful long ball that’s been rightly criticised when we’re chasing a game.
