  1. If £1.5 million over 5 years for 50% is the offer he should be laughed out the boardroom. To be honest, I’ve been kind of surprised at how many people are jumping up and down at the prospect of outside investment (even if that means the majority share is lost). Makes me wonder if the same people would be willing to, for example, give the Cooper stand to Celtic/Rangers because it brings in an extra £X a season, and that would secure us a bit more. I’m not suggesting we do this, I’m just suggesting that there are many options to raise an extra few hundred thousand a season (palatable or not), and where is the line?
  2. It’ll be interesting when the nuts and bolts of the offer come out. Im still in the “what’s in it for him” camp. He's saying the right things, but I don’t generally go a job interview and open with how the “company values” are a load of shite and I’m only seeing the job as stepping stone, so there’ll be an element of saying the right things I imagine. I just don’t see why he’d be interested in giving us some pocket money to bob around the middle of the league. Or is he thinking he’s going to come in, bring in millions in investment and challenge for top of the league - which would be a laugh, but even if it worked out would it really feel like the club I started supporting (don’t mean I’d chuck it, but it’d be different, right)? The middle ground between these two things of overspending someone else’s cash but not really getting anywhere sounds the riskiest scenario of all - we’ve been there. I’m also pretty concerned all these US/US based owners in the league will implement an NFL style road-to-the-Super Bowl league, and bring back those weird dribble penalties they trialled in the 90s. On the other hand, US stadium food could sway me.
  3. I’m always interested to see peoples point of view on these things. I think by and large I go to see Motherwell because I go to see Motherwell. I know there’s an argument that if we don’t get investment we’ll end up further down the leagues and that might lose us fans. I just don’t really see the difference though between watching for example us play St Johnstone when our aim is to not be relegated and watching us play Arbroath when we’re pushing for a play off spot. Am I being wildly naive/unrealistic in thinking we’d survive financially at a lower level? I don’t think I’ve ever thought we’d be in the top flight forever, and I don’t see us getting the kind of money that would make things “interesting” in the top flight, so I’m not convinced at all on the merits.
  4. To be honest shite like that just makes it better. Weeks like this that I miss working in Scotland.
  5. Brilliant! Unexpected - I was sure there would be a 99th minute penalty
  6. I think that’s exactly the point though, some people when faced with that question wouldn’t have had a strong opinion based on the information at hand. I don’t think that puts them in a “can’t be bothered” category to be honest.
  7. I’d think the ambiguity of the question, and the lack of ability to put forward questions etc probably contributed to this. I’m not suggesting it should/could have been done differently (except the wording), but it wasn’t really an “engaging” process, which I think you need to get a lot people to bother. If you don’t feel the question is worded correctly, can’t communicate that (ie the way you’re voting doesn’t quite reflect your feelings) and your answer has to be binary, I can see why some people wouldn’t have a clue which way to vote far less anything else. That and there’s no real peril with not voting at this stage, worst case you see the options on the table - hardly a driver to vote for the undecided.
  8. I thought one of the biggest issues was after about 75 minutes Bair looked done, and it was around that time we started more hit and hope up the park. Bair isn’t really there to chase balls at the best of times, far less when he’s knackered. In combination with what’s already been mentioned regarding the subs it’s hard not to attribute the defeat to Kettlewell.
  9. With the well society? I think the calibre of people who put themselves forward for election last year, along with the material put out before the vote was really encouraging. I feel like the visibility of the society has been better, I like the idea of the focus groups which have been consulted on different things, and (while I accept you live in an echo chamber of the people you talk to) there’s definitely been more chat within my group about the society than there has been for years. Like I say, I didn’t really engage with it for years because I didn’t see the point, that’s probably on me but I’m not the only person who feels/felt that way. For whatever reason it just feels like it has became more open/accessible the last 6 months or so, and that has encouraged me greatly. My point was, that I’d be far more likely to update my monthly contribution now than I would have a year ago. Just my personal opinion.
  10. Brilliant debate on here just now, every time I’ve went to type a response I’ve got caught up in whatever the latest points are. My position is that for my entire life Motherwell have been in the top league, but at no point have I expected that to be the default position for the rest of my life. Id rather take whichever option means that I still have a club to support, even if that club isn’t in the premiership (and I don’t say that lightly - I fully understand the financial implications of that). So while I’m willing to listen to any offer, it would be stupid not to, the lure of “being better” would have to be balanced with a whole lot of reassurance - including forecasts on sustainability if that money suddenly disappeared. On the Well Society, I have to say although I pay in monthly I’ve been pretty disillusioned with that for years. I distinctly remember asking a question at some forum during the Rangers debacle and the patronising answer I got (which never really answered the question) left me with no illusion of how the Well Society were viewed by the board. In the subsequent years, while I’m sure there were well meaning people involved, this feeling never really went away, communication was shite and everything else that’s been gone over 100 times already. However, I’ve been pretty encouraged in the last few months (big thanks to @JayMFC coming on here and clearing a lot of things up) to the extent I was considering increasing my monthly payment. Which makes this whole thing difficult timing wise for me - because I honestly feel like the society is just starting to get to its fighting weight.
  11. Probably true, but I prefer a convoluted “masterplan” everyday of the week. Makes the board seem more competent in a way
  12. I think the plan was always to keep Shaw, they just had to go through a “very unlucky not to sign another striker” saga to get people thinking “maybe he wasn’t that bad”. The board might be rudderless but if that was their game it seems to have worked with a fair portion of people. I’d be delighted for him to kick on from here, but I’ve seen nothing to lead me to believe that’ll happen.
  13. Saving my rage for when St Mirren bring out a claret & amber third kit next year. Most plausible step imo.
  14. Might have been discussed previously, but at what point does the number of injuries we have (irrespective of how they happened) impact what clubs want to give us players on loan? I can’t imagine it’s not a consideration.
  15. I’m really hoping for a new striker being announced via teasers in the pre match photos followed by official confirmation in the team sheet. It’s nice to have a dream…
  16. If I saw this in the starting line up, at this stage I don’t think I would be surprised. That’s a worry .
  17. There is something stopping me jumping on the KVV bus. Hard to say if it’s realism, pessimism or a brain defect tbh.
  18. What do you think is the end game of The Video, and what would you as a fan be happy with? I think it’s really difficult. While obviously investment is a good thing, how much do we want, and in fantasy land how much would be “too much”? Is there a too much? Just now if the club think having a heap of well society members is hard to navigate (how much to involve members, what decisions should go to members etc etc), how’s that going to work when you have 10 Americans kicking in 200K each and thinking they’re Fenway Sports? What level of discussions will there be with any would be investor before we take the money, what would that “buy” them? I get this post is just a bit of a brain dump, but I have many more questions than anything else after that video. Like others have said I expected a more formal sales pitch along the lines of this is what we’re giving for this amount of cash.
  19. I mean if the idea was no publicity is bad publicity….. It’s certainly going to be shared widely, but is pretty wide of the mark imo.
  20. Completely agree with the “just shite” shouts. I don’t think many referees in Scotland are competent enough to be bias. IMO they should have put the VAR money towards getting full time referees.
  21. Was working today so stuck on Open All Mics. What rubbish it is now, VAR, VAR, APP(new one on me - attacking phase of play apparently), VAR, Rangers and repeat. Feel sorry for people having to listen to that regularly.
