I suspect they might have some interest from an English outfit, therefore holding out for more money is in their better interests.

I think they have played us to generate interest of the players availability.  Clubs that might not have been aware of McMenamin have now been made aware of his availability.  But will they pay £150k and a decent wage for a relatively unknown player .

They have already brought his replacement in at no cost , and it is worth noting that his replacement Daire O'connor played for Cliftonville at the same time as McMenamin and  went to Ayr United where he made little impression.  So there is no guarantee of highly rated  players coming from Northern Ireland and setting the heather alight .

I'm not convinced the deal is off .

Club telling Glentoran that they have until tomorrow to accept or reject the McMenamin bid.

Not being left hanging about here - Glentoran clearly dragging their hells to see if they can get better elsewhere and the player side of negotiations will be the easy part. He's told the club he wants to join us so we really do need to force the issue here.

Think the player will have a chat with the chairman and force the move . The player can refuse to go to another team and play out the rest of his contract at Glentoran . We have made a fair offer , and if he is as good as they think he is , there is a good chance they will make a few bob out of a sell on fee .

In the last 6 months we have sold 4 players, 3 of whom were not getting a game. And the income is helping finance hopefully first pick players. Quite a turnround for us.

Realistically we can make three decent signings and maybe get a couple of loans in and keep hold of OHara , Baccus and Strain , which would give us our best ever squad in recent years .

Are you certain we leaked this to Scott Burns? If it is true then I'd suggest it was already a done deal and we are getting it out there before the official announcement.  Why?  Shows we mean business and are doing well and gets the fans up for season tickets and merchandising.

I like that version . Might not agree with it . But I hope your correct .

Bedeau is a left footed centre half. We already have Dunne and Taylor. Would assume we will go back for Bedeau next summer. I would say it's McMenamin, Fletcher and possibly Sule

I've never seen Bedeau play , but I'm thinking he,s a centre half that's left footed , who can play centrally or on the left side of three central defenders . Was thinking he would be taking over from Shaunessy.

Ah right ok. I wasn’t thinking of McMenamin as a striker. 👍

Would be nice if it were two strikers we were pursuing and McMenamin.  Would settle for one new striker if we keep Main .

So far it looks like Tait,   Shaunessy, Main , Carson  Small , Brophy and Henderson will need replaced . Probably Baccus too .

We have brought in Nahmani and Hemmings , so I'm thinking we,re due another six signings .

Look at John McGinn to Villa with one year left on his contract.  Was it something like 2.75m+ add ons? I'm not saying we would get the same for Baccus, but you can't help but think we would be short changed if we accepted anything under 750k for a full international who featured at the World Cup and is a regular now in his national side?

I think many of the teams looking at Baccus think there's a profit to be made and will look to sell him on . Add ons will be hugely important in any deal to sell Baccus .

I think Greive is worth a try. Always very mobile and definitely helps us get up the pitch. Does have a goal or too in him but so for not prolific. Not too far away from cementing a place last season before his injury. I think he's done more than just ok.

Greive is still young and improving.  Not in the same class as Strain or Baccus , but still a good prospect.

  9. Baccus played well today , he played in front if the back four znd a lot of play went through him , he made several forward runs with the ball and seldom wasted a pass.  Any football manager/ head of recruitment worth their salt would be watching today's game . Think a few teams might make their move quickly before interest hits up . I'm expecting him to sign for an ambitious championship side.
