  1. Renfrew 0-4 Johnstone Burgh Lafferty x2, McKenzie, Simeon
  2. In pre-season, Malky McDonald, Kieran Brady and Dean Scott have been the other players we’ve seen feature at centre back. Malky McDonald has predominantly been a midfielder during his time at the club but seems to be comfortable playing at centre back. Kieran Brady has experience of playing anywhere across the back line, and Dean Scott who was a summer addition from can play anywhere really. Callum Nolan who’s a centre back who came in from Arthurlie in the summer looked good in the games he played but believe he’s unfortunately no longer at the club. Menzies has recovered well after his head knock, returned to the squad for the Hurlford match and started against both Auchinleck and Beith and done well in both!
  3. Season starts tomorrow. Anybody sharing their predictions? Mines are - 1. Johnstone Burgh 2. Kilwinning Rangers 3. Drumchapel United 14. Neilston 15. Cambuslang Rangers 16. Maybole Should be a great season, very competitive and tough to call. Wouldn’t be surprised if I got all my predictions wrong! Good luck to all the teams.
  4. Wharton’s been good. Been solid at the back, and seems to be getting used to the style of play and thats been evident for the whole team as pre season has gone on. Haven’t seen them two play together as much as I’d have liked as I believe that will be our best centre back pairing next season. No complaints! He does love playing a big switch which will be useful next season.
  5. Noah Young and Lee Kilbride are outstanding young players. I wouldn’t have been surprised if we had kept Lee Kilbride as number 1 for this season. Gordon Meredith is a top former Burgh player also. I’d have Glenvale to win it next season.
  6. That boys 18, and has just left St Mirren’s B team I believe. Only a year ago was on the bench against Rangers. Not sure if he’s signed, playing with the U20s or what his current situation is. Kenzie Smyth.
  7. Burgh had a goal chopped off for offside, which was an absolutely horrendous decision it’s up on the social media sites if you want a laugh. Good turnout for Nicky, good game of football to watch although the score line doesn’t reflect that.
  8. I wondered what the script with him was as don’t think he’s featured since the Thorn game 2 weeks ago, in which he was impressive.
  9. Also visited Thorn for the first time this week, very impressed. Top quality ground, far better than some of the cages in the First Division and Premier League! Good luck to them
  10. Dorrans was well off it today, has been for most of pre-season. I’ll cut him some slack as he’s not played football in just under a full year, could take him some time to get back upto speed. Needs to do it quick, for the price we’re paying!
  11. Agree with what you said regarding the match. We’ve got a large squad of 23 that is more than capable to meet the targets, think the business is done.
  12. Appreciate the input, cheers!
  13. Didn’t really know where to put this but I’m looking for a bit of advice. I’m looking for a reasonably priced laptop (up to around £750 ish) that can run Football Manager smoothly and that can also be used for work purposes. Cheers!
  14. Any update on Josh Fowler? Heard Motherwell weren’t interested, then heard he began trials with Killie. Not heard anything since.
  15. I never said anything about Rangers or Celtic. No doubt Lafferty is a top player. My point was the money being spent on him is entirely unnecessary for this level and that he is not required to get Johnstone Burgh to where we want to be.
  16. I have to agree, the squad we have at this moment is capable of winning the league which in my eyes should be our goal. Kyle Lafferty is not needed at all. A lot of money being wasted which could be invested into improving the ground massively. Unhappy with this.
  17. Really looking forward to the weekend. Some good teams on show for a great cause! Really excited to see all the new players in action in what should be a good test against a strong Largs side.
  18. I personally don’t back it either, we’ve got plenty good strikers and although the quality of Lafferty is not to be ignored, not worth the wage for me. Also a bit of an idiot from my experiences. Would be interesting to see the reception he received against Candy!
  19. Heard ex-Ranger Kyle Lafferty was at Ferguslie, training with the Burgh.
  20. Shotts is an interesting one, took six points from us last season I suppose so we’ve seen them at their best, just don’t seem to do very well against other teams. Maybe they just don’t like us
  21. Heard the mystery striker is Ally Roy.
  22. Assume that your opinion of him is fairly negative then?
