  1. Sorry I was under the impression this was the Junior Football forum. Please accept my sincere apologies
  2. Knew it was too good to last. At least we got one weekend actually discussing JUNIOR football.
  3. Colville Park had a playing budget that many Junior clubs could only dream of which makes their claim of being an Amateur side laughable and they are certainly not the only ones.
  4. Does that mean that if I take the High road and you take the Low road I'll be in the Pyramid afore ye
  5. Only because their pitch was wrecked by a tractor collapsing the main drain which will be fixed when the weather allows. Doesn't seem to be affecting their form in the League though.
  6. Some good points but you paint a picture of corruption greed on a grand scale. Most club Committee men I know would probably be divorced if their wives found out just how much money they're putting into their clubs to keep them afloat. No doubt there have been and still are some chancers out there but you would hope they are few and far between. What do we do, subject every person on or who wants to join a Committee to a disclosure check to determine their suitability. Maybe not a bad idea!!
  7. Well said Glesgaboy, that's exactly how it's coming across to me as well
  8. No but he's winding up a lot of posters on here pretty successfully at that
  9. 15 posts on the subject would tend to suggest you care quite a lot actually
  10. Aye they'really away investigating the mysterious void found above Tutenkhamun's burial chamber.
  11. Wonder where these 700 kids go on a Saturday afternoon. Obviously not to watch their big team although great to see so many kids involved in sport/football.
  12. The SJFA will not put any pressure on the SFA for change because the clubs don't want it if the response to the letter that was sent out to every club a few seasons ago asking if they were interested in a pyramid is anything to go by. Only 30 odd were in favour of pursuing dialogue with the SFA which is less than 1 in 5 clubs and I don't see that being much different now. I personally would be quite happy for the SJFA to start talking to the SFA to see where Junior clubs (those that were interested that is) would fit into the jigsaw then those that wanted to move could and leave the rest to get on with improving the Junior grade
  13. As Mark Twain said "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated". As you say RnB the basics are there, a reasonably good standard of football at a reasonable cost. The changes we need will happen slowly but surely (maybe not as fast as some on here would like right enough) but they WILL happen. Until the pyramid gets it act together and makes itself a more attractive proposition then I'm quite happy riding that dinosaur along my glass ceiling at least until it becomes exctint.
  14. This thread just gets better and better. First its ok to suggest bullying Junior teams into joining the pyramid and now accusations of the Office bearers being corrupt. Doing a grand job of convincing us.
  15. Well I go and watch various other levels of football from Motherwell and Hamilton Accies to Amateurs and Schoolboys from time to time and most people there I speak to know the difference so I suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree on that one. Still don't see how changing the grade name will attract more or better sponsorship from any company (presume you're talking about a national or multi-national) interested in sponsoring the Scottish Junior Cup. It's not as if we would get any more press or tv coverage which presumably is what the potential sponsors companies/businesses would be looking for in return for their investment.
  16. See, this is the bit I don't get. What advantages would there be if we called ourselves something different. Sponsors/Advertisers put money into Junior clubs primarily because of a local connection of some sort and i would also think that most football fans in Scotland supporting a team at any level would be well versed in what the Juniors are all about and the 140 year history behind them. Other than making it easier to explain to some English football fan in a random bar in Benidorm I honestly don't see what difference it would make calling our grade something else. If someone could convince me that my door would be getting kicked in by potential sponsors clamouring to get their name on the front of our jerseys then I might change my mind.
