He has previously shown he is willing to do similar with Gilmour and Patterson.

If he gets some game time, I think there’s a chance - he also adds real pace which we don’t really have in the midfield areas

I think of him more in terms of the support forward roles than midfield. An exciting alternative to Christie/Armstrong in the future hopefully

  2. I think its really exciting to have someone in that position. You can obviously never guarantee a youngster ends up doing anything, but the way he's talked about by Klopp and the clips you see it's hard not to get carried away sometimes. If he gets a good (10+ games) run of first team games and performs well, either at Liverpool or on loan, then it's maybe time to start thinking about him getting in the squad but still far too soon imo.

100% agree with this. It is a situation that is tangible to so many people and they would have bother drawing said conclusions in the cold light of day.

That's true, but I think people also forget the specific instances of this case.

This was a girl so drunk she couldn't properly support her body weight being spotted by two guys at a completely different level of intoxication, predated upon, taken to a second location and raped. That's not to minimise the point you're making but I think it's important to remember exactly how heinous this case is. While I am sure the majority of men either knowingly or not are friendly with people who have committed unpunished sexual offences, I think in a way that does minimise how singularly vile this was. Apologies though I don't mean to criticise you or imply it's not a valid thing to point out

  4. It's embarrassing sometimes to have to try and defend a sport where a player is given a ridiculously lenient punishment because it's his last world cup and it'd be a shame if he couldn't play.

  5. Could just be the headline writers but I do wish people involved with Scotland (like Ashman in the BBC interview the other day) leaving us so open to jokes by saying things like "Scotland aren't going to finish second"

Despite him making dozens of films, I've a feeling that this thread will be full of very similar lists, except for the one guy who swears Gangs of New York and Shutter Island are his greatest works.

    1. Goodfellas
    2. The Last Temptation of Christ
    3. Casino
    4. Raging Bull
    5. Taxi Driver

    DEFINITIVE

  7. I used to work with a guy who was into this stuff, as well as being in some Rangers hooligan group. I say into it, it only seemed to apply to his dealings with the police which, given the above, were apparently quite frequent. Used to talk about how a get out of jail free card was to tell a police officer you "did not consent" to there being police. Anyway, he ended up getting tased when he tried this in the course of being arrested for GBH.

Saw him in the park recently, he has a kid now so that's good

Anyone recommend a good tasting shake / drink as a meal replacement? Looking to take the thinking out of lunch and avoid hunger-induced chippy buying

I honestly forget whether mine is Protein World or MyProtein but it tastes pretty good all things considered (not helpful)

I've tried the pre mixed huel ones once or twice when I was in a rush and they were awful imo, strange texture and tasted like pure sweetener (a bit helpful?)

I have zero contact with my one surviving parent, zero contact with my only sibling, and have never met my youngest niece. All my choice. No intention of resuming contact regardless of reason. If I'm fortunate enough to outlive my parent I will not be attending any funeral or memorial, but tbh they could already be deid and I'd be none the wiser. I simply couldn't care less. My life is far easier, more enjoyable, happier, and tranquil without them in it in any capacity.

Your posts on the other thread are making a lot more sense now thanks

I don't recall at any point there was ever any assertion that there was a paedophile involved, merely that someone had been acting inappropriately with someone much their junior, and that it possibly began when the junior person was 17, meaning the exchange of photographs would have been a criminal offence unless there was substantive proof of a meaningful relationship between the two. The police are seemingly satisfied this wasn't the case, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been a completely inappropriate element to the relationship, or an abusive of power.

If you've reached the stage of saying it's not ok for his wife to mention he is in a mental health facility because it wasn't exactly paedophilia but a different form of underage sexual abuse of which  he was falsely accused then I don't think there's much point continuing to discuss it tbh.

"Mental Health Sufferers" absolutely are an 'identity' in the regard that it is possible to collectively advocate for Mental Health, when it is an umbrella term that encompasses everyone who has ever had to deal with any sort of mental health issue, temporary or otherwise.

Edwards owes no duty of care to anyone else, that much is true, and I'll be clear about the fact that I have no doubt whatsoever that his own mental state right now is likely through the floor, he absolutely requires respite and care, and I'm in no way surprised this is the outcome after the events since the weekend.

So he's done nothing more than be mean to someone on a dating app. I don't think that in any way justifies having his personal life made public in the way that it has been. Why I'm angry, is that he, or his wife, could simply have admitted that he is the person at the centre of this without having to make any mention of his mental state. In fact, I can't for the life of me understand why he would want that in public domain, because as much as it may well paint him in a more sympathetic light, it's just going to yet again create more and more stigma and misconception about what mental illness is, how it affects individuals, how it affects their behaviours, and no, it doesn't in any way excuse any of his behaviours, so it does scream of 'poor me/I'm the real victim here' anyway, in exactly the same way Schofield's vomitous routine did in the aftermath of his fall from grace.

It's not about you or your advocacy group though, it's about someone falsely (at the time of writing, who knows what could come out further) accused of being a paedophile by the national press. It is mental to the point of sociopathy to suggest that it's unfair to others to mention the effect this has had on their mental health.

He has, which is a credit to him. It's just sickening that once again someone behaving questionably is going to be forever linked with 'mental health issues' rather than what this is, i.e. his mental health has caved in because he's finally been pulled up about his own behaviours.

Nonsense post I'm afraid. Mental health sufferers is not an identity, he has no need to consider how his actions effect other sufferers. How would you expect someone with a history of MH issues to react when public accusations led people to (falsely, considering the police's current position) believe you were a perpetrator of child sexual abuse, and the silver lining when this is shown to be false is that you are outed as gay, and mean to someone on a dating app.

  13. I'm not sure how realistic either the Levitt or Bacchus rumours are but would be delighted if our midfield options next year are both of them, Newell, Campbell with potentially Jeggo and Doyle-Hayes rotating in. Levitt obviously really struggled last year but there's some mitigating circumstances there. Stick him beside a couple of guys who'll do the dirtier work and he could thrive with us imo

  14. Shocked this fella doesn't have a thread of his own already. I first came across it when I saw the below video, taken from a 60 minutes interview, which went semi-viral a few months back (apologies, apparently the Sun are the only ones who have the vid on YouTube):

It was only a few weeks later I actually heard about who this guy was, and it is incredibly hard to work out where to start with this story. Nicholas Rossi was wanted on a number of charges, including rape, in Western states of the US. He apparently self published his obituary in a New England newspaper as part of a wider attempt to fake his own death (his purported final act as described in that obit are amazing).

Fast forward a few months and a mysterious figure went into a Glasgow hospital with severe COVID symptoms. While trying to figure out the comatose patient's identity, Glaswegian police compared his tattoos to an Interpol database and got a hit on Nicholas Rossi.

He has since been detained pending a (now ongoing) extradition trial, in which he claims he is not Rossi but an Irish orphan academic named Arthur Knight. He claims his COVID and media attention have left him dependant upon a wheelchair and oxygen mask, however a prison doctor testified that he had kicked a prison officer high on the body. He claims the tattoos in question were placed on him while comatose.

Interesting side issues include his also being potentially wanted for rape in the UK, his attempts to accuse the Scottish prison service of anti Semitism by offering him a ham sandwich, and his involvement in a bizarre case in Utah where a district attorney announced at a news conference that he (the district attorney) was going to be named in a child sex abuse case due to the hostility of the police department and the machinations of Nicholas Rossi, at this time under the pseudonym Nicholas Alahverdian who purported to be a journalist. The DA was later implicated in a different sex abuse scandal.

I'd recommend the TrueAnon reporting on this stretching back to the DA's press conference which later bled into an interest in Rossi. STV have also done some very interesting reporting on the chap.

Apologies for getting any of the details above wrong, this was all off the top of my head.

  15. The little drummer girl - John le Carre

Very much enjoyed this, even if it was a longer/slower read than most JlCs which I have read. You can tell dealing with this conflict has him out of his comfort zone a little bit, but it's no less fantastically written or typically thoughtful for that; and his treatment of both the Israelis and Palestinians, and the morality of both sides of the conflict, is relatively well observed and humane. As usual, he manages to spend a lot of time with the internal lives of his characters while often leaving their thoughts, motivations and pasts on the edge of mystery. Would definitely recommend giving it a read

That was my impression when I made the mistake of hitting play…I didn’t stop to investigate further and don’t want to.

May well have been tbh, don't really fancy watching it back to see.

That didn't seem very conensual and was disturbing.

Yeah seemed the lassie was trying to get up and was stuck under the weight of him. And even if that's reading something incorrectly, you have to question the ability of someone to give consent if they're drunk enough to end up shagging in the road. Very disturbing and not sure why someone would film or take a picture of it for fun, or post it on a Scottish Football Forum tbh

I think a fair load of what we signed last Summer was pish but a couple of gems in there. I'm a big Myko fan but I'll agree that he's been injured too much to count him as an outright success, that said when he was playing he was in my view even better than Nisbet. Miller looked very good at the end of the season too, but again the injury throughout not very good. Rocky seemed to be doing alright, then injured. Definitely a pattern here, but Fish and Youann at-least weren't injured and were generally good to excellent when played.

Again I think last Summer's recruitment bares some positive reflection, it looked god awful at the time but I don't really get why people can't re-evaluate.

I think that's absolutely fair enough, and recruitment will always be a mixed bag. I think posters are more just fed up of someone acting the sage restrained figure and handing out (increasingly deranged) digs while claiming that guys who barely contributed to the team are somehow successful transfers.

For the record I would say unequivocal successes last year were Youann, Fish and Egan-Riley. Myko, Miller, Boyle Bushiri I think we can all say we got good players there but all were here from the summer and managed fewer than 50% of our games so I don't think anyone can consider that a success, especially in the case of loans who as yet haven't returned. Jeggo and McGeady were, for different reasons, no better than decent signings. That's not too bad for a season all things considered

I can believe that part of it.  I doubt banks tell you they think you are a money launderer etc.

They'd in fact be breaking the law by tipping him off if they did so, assuming they'd contacted the police about suspected money laundering, which again I think they'd be breaking the law if they didn't do.

Not discounting the possibility that banks are just closing his accounts because they don't want him as a customer, but there's a strong possibility that other than throw his dwindling support base some red meat, all farage has done here is advertise that his bank suspects him of carrying out illegal activity.

I might write an email to Carol Caddwaladr and tell her it's because he broke sanctions with Russia. Keep her busy for a few years
