Really felt for Rory last night. That’s a tough loss to take. He’d putted beautifully pretty much the whole round and then suddenly missed 2 short ones. Shame.

Twice in the last fortnight I've had tears in my eyes watching golf on the telly.

Firstly, when Boab won the Canadian Open with his dad on the bag - tears of joy.

Then last night, when Rory blew it 'cos he decided to go flaghunting - tears of sadness and frustration.

I really hope he can get over the loss before The Open and expect to see him at Renaissance for the Scottish Open.

As others seem to indulge in this kind of weirdness, I pop Ferrero Rocher in my cavernous maw and chew off the chocolate/nuts down to the wafer, then suck on it until the liquid chocolate centre bursts through. It's like a wee challenge.

Also used to chew off the ice cream from the outside of a Feast bar without breaking the hard chocolate centre. Harder than it seems.

"Beavers reintroduced to a Scottish rainforest 15 years ago may have created the right habitat for the area’s endangered water voles to flourish.

The voles, once abundant in Scotland but now one of the country’s most threatened native animals, could thrive in the “complex boundary between water and land” that beavers have created in Knapdale in Argyll and Bute since their reintroduction there in 2009.

The beavers’ dam-building in the forest has led to the creation of a new habitat along the banks of watercourses, where water voles can dig burrows hidden from predatory mink."

  4. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/article/2024/jun/17/us-open-golf-bryson-dechambeau-rory-mcilroy-report

"Bryson DeChambeau is a US Open champion for a second time after beating Rory McIlroy by one shot, prolonging the Northern Irishman’s decade-long wait for a fifth major title by at least another month in the most agonising fashion at Pinehurst No 2.

The 30-year-old American, one of only a dozen players from the rebel LIV Golf series in the 156-player field, frittered away a three-shot overnight lead before rallying from two strokes down on a dramatic back nine, holding his nerve in a contest of extreme psychological intensity that will leave McIlroy ruing a series of unforced errors in the final reel."

I'm still seething about the time 3 bogeys at the last 3 holes would have seen me break 80 for the first time and I royally fucked it, so God knows how Rory ever gets over this.

He could start the ball rolling (😀) by finding a good shrink.

    Both.

I get that Rory thinks the relationship they have really helps him, but he needs a Billy Foster type who will sometimes just get him fucking telt

Spot on Mr. C. I was actually thinking about the Harry Diamond / Rory bromance when Boab was talking about his caddy situation after he won the Canadian.

Problem is, there's only one Billy Foster.

Absolutely thrown away by Rory. Dismal stuff.

I still can't get over his club choice on 18th tee.

His caddy should have stepped in and put the 3 wood in his hand.
