  1. If Joe chalmers signs for another season I will not be happy. Not good enough and after he couldnt wait to disappear off on holiday during the play offs last season he can GTF.

I thought he was ok going forward, quite a neat and tidy player, poor defensively though.

Re the holiday thing I think we've got to give him the benefit of the doubt. He signed midway through the season and maybe booked the holiday well before he had any inkling of coming to Falkirk.

  2. Never knew much about Farid and Taylor, so there was a bit of unknown when the signed, where as I've seen Graham for the last few seasona. Farid & Lyle were both the focal point in our team under Pressley and it worked a treat. Could you really see us building our team around Brian Graham? Of course I couldn't really care who scored the goals for us but I think we could do miles better than him

    Aye, like who though?

I personally haven't been particularly impressed by Graham any time I've seen him, even when he scored a hat trick against us but he did score a shed load of goals at this level and I don't think Houstie would sign somebody if he didn't intend to play to the player's strengths.

If he wants to sign him, and it's a big if, he must think that he and Loy can play together.

  3. Can't think of anyone else other than Stainrod that gave us such a lift in such a short space of time!

I picked Farid in my team of all time Falkirk greats so the thought of him scoring against us, especially at the stadium, is just doing my head in!

It's also got me thinking of who we're going to get to partner Rory as we sure as f**k need somebody.

  4. If Millar is deemed unfit and overweight, I would like to see him lean and much fitter then. Has boundless energy and wouldn't say he tired any less than anyone else in our team last season.

The ones who "revealed" the Rudi Skacel signing are looking a tad silly now are they not. Utter nonsense

You may disagree with my opinion but I don't post incorrect info from the club or pathetic rumours like some on here

Don't know that anybody deemed him unfit or overweight while with us. Who said that?

    Not sure mate. Not sure

Shouldny be starting rumours then! :P

  6. Houstie tagged Millar and Gardyne as the best 2 players in the 1st division when he signed them for Dundee Utd.

The story is that Millar reported for pre season training overweight and had a falling out with Houston about it. Possibly the ill feeling has lingered? I've heard a few people say that the guy has a problem with junk food (Millar not Houston) and maybe Houston just didn't want to take the chance on him?

Mind you I don't think that many Scottish footballers will stick to a strict diet although most will get away with it to an extent. I saw Mark Beck with a carry out pizza and a big bag of Haribos last season! :o

  7. MacDonald

    Duffie Vaulks McCracken Dick

    McGrandles Millar

    Alston Sibbald Skacel

    Loy

With three additions as above and Kingsley leaving, I think that looks a quality team. Possible weaknesses at full back but if we started the season with that I'd be creaming over the midfield and attack.

    Stop talking shite!

  8. Houstie Hardcore to reform.....

I'd be more than happy with that appointment, ticks many boxes...

Negatives are we weren't big enough for him just over a year ago, perhaps this may have been part of his release from Dufc. The other thing is, im not keen on heroes getting manager jobs, it usually ends bad at some point...still willing to take that than an out of the norm appointment

Is the cardboard 'shaky' not a bit worse for wear by now?

  9. Think about it lads, he probably booked his holidays ages ago without expecting to be involved in a league play off.

As far as how good he is? He's not as good as Kingsley although I think he's quite neat and tidy as a footballer, at least in an attacking sense. He's a dreadful defender though!

  10. If we do win the league on Saturday it will be a giant f**k you to the many so called fans who cannae be arsed.

As for your 2nd point, I'm not so sure.

The home end (west and South) is just under 6000 seats and I sometimes wonder what it would take to fill it for a league match.

I believe our only sellout was the July 2009 game with Vaduz, out 1st and only ever European match.

Feck me, I know I was completely pissed in Vaduz (still got the scar) but I didn't know I had imagined the game!

  11. Have to laugh at comments like this saying he is on the scrapheap because he didnt make it at Falkirk! Im sorry to see him leave and im more dissapointed that Holt was unable to sort him out because he has ability and was actually playing well for a while.

Unfortunately another couple of weeks of bad attitude brought his earlier problems back to mind.

A few Falkirk "fans" seem eager for Holt and certain players to fail. its a sad situation.

So where do you think he'll go from here exactly?

For all his failings, and although I can't comment on fans in the main stand, I can only think of one, as you say 'fan', in the south stand who abused him. That guy though is clearly a p***k as he did the very same thing with Mark Stewart. Other than that I don't think anybody wanted him to fail, in fact the very opposite is surely true? We saw a real talent against Morton, Livingston & Dundee and he got a lot of support from the stands in those games and games after but continually threw it back in our faces.

If you saw what he did at Alloa you would know that there was only one way that things could end. I don't see how he can resurrect his career after being sacked from a wee club like ours without a massive improvement in attitude and application. As things stand I doubt he'll be able to do that. But I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

  12. Damn shame as I felt the lad had a lot to offer.

In all my time watching Falkirk though I've never witnessed such petulance and temper. The incident at Alloa was, quite rightly, the last straw so fair play to Holt or whoever prompted his departure.

Had we had the player that scored against Morton and Livingston for the rest of the time we'd have sauntered this league!

I hope he works out his problems and manages to banish his demons and I wish him well.

  13. Well absolutely - the Morton fans have seen the team turn over a dominant Celtic side - the first win against the scum since 1971 - in a truly surreal campaign. Few other sides will ever spring a similar shock - it's bigger than Inverness against Barnes.

The fans then have next season playing generally winning football with great away days. The club suffers ie the clusterfuck built by Rae, not sure why anyone should care tbh.

What, really? Ha ha, that's fuckin pathetic!

  14. I admire your new found optimism. I don't share it, but I do admire it. Whatever belief I had was pretty much extinguished in that second half display at the Bet Butler, which was pretty similar to (but not as bad as) the 4-1 defeat at Cowdenbeath the season before. There was that re-appearance of a lack of fight and desire from two or three players that day that let everyone else down, and it wasn't for the first time. We are as good as anyone provided that there's little or no hard physical stuff. When things get a bit tough, we still have a few in the ranks who will just drift along, and let it happen.

I reckon we have got another two or three scrappy games like that to come, and they are the ones that will see us off........although I hope you are right, and I am wrong.

You'll be talking about Sibbs there Duncan? I'm assuming you weren't at Hamilton then as he was singled out for some really tough treatment but handled it very well. He certainly didn't disappear as he's been prone to do in the past when the going gets tough and was the best man on the park for me.

Hopefully we'll see something similar tomorrow.

  15. Alston has been absolutely brutal all season. Saturday was arguably his worst performance yet. Small impressed me when he came on on Saturday. In saying that, Alston in for Small would be a change I wouldn't mind to that XI I posted.

Look, we all know that Alston's an exceptionally good player. He was very good in the very early games, got injured and then lost form. Holt hasn't really given him the chance to play through it though and I think he deserves that chance given the fact that we don't have many other options.

Apparently, along with a few others, he wasn't fully fit on Saturday. He'll come good again, I've no doubt about that.
