  1. I've since been told that he went absolutely tonto at some fans and that there may be no way back. Easy for me to say that we should encourage etc when I didn't witness it. He maybe should try to make some sort of apology (another hat trick would be good) then, as you say, we may be able to kve on from there.

  2. Young Roberts is on the OS saying that he's going to buckle down and work hard for the team. Claims that his actions so far have all been down to frustration and that he wants to win the fans over.

I wasn't at the Aberdeen game so I don't know what his crime was but I don't like to see players booed, especially if it's going to be detrimental to the team. He seems to be quite immature to me and, based on his antics so far, I'm not surprised at all that he reacted to being booed. I feel that he's the type that needs a lot of encouragement and I hope gets it because he's a cracking wee player who could do a very good job for us this season.

He needs to do exactly what he says, buckle down, work hard, score goals and be a real team player. Hopefully he's been told as well that he needs to avoid reacting to opposition players and fans as he's far too easily wound up - as I say, a bit immature.

  3. I think he will. He if nothing else has them working alot harder and isnt up his own arse like pressley was/is. I dont think the board have been great. They are mostly trying to amend mistakes made 5-6 years ago but i dont hear any alternates being put forward and i dread to think what state the club would be in if some of these sour faced posters had their way. The fact people gret like f**k about the plastic pitch just tells you all you need to know. 500 large which should be paid in 5 years. OH BUT THATS MONEY FROM THE PLAYING BUDGET!!! pish! the state of the sandpit last year would have ment spending a fortune re laying of the summer and every season after that and then there was the undersoil heating that didnt even work properly.

concerts were a f**k up but not a bad idea in themselves. everycunt in an armchair seems to know how to run a football clun these days.

    Rant over

I know a guy who was well in at Kilmarnock, paying big bucks in sponsorship etc. There's a boycot of sorts going on there now because of decisions that the chairman, Michael Johnston's, been making and the general f**k up that the board's been making, the sacking of Shields being the biggest complaint. The bloke I know, along with many others, has withdrawn his sponsorship and is actually pleased when Killie get beat because he reckons that's bringing Johnston's departure closer.

Brought a wee smile to my face last night watching Sportscene when I saw Johnston sitting in the stand with none other than George Craig sitting next to him! Complete with club tie too!!

  4. Was hearing yesterday that Lyle Taylor hasn't scored in over 30 appearances in league 1. Obviously early days for him at Sheffield, but I think it's fairly safe to say he's not good enough for that level. I think we've done very well to get as much as we did.

Ok, what am I missing?

Cancel that, I've got it now. :thumsup2

  5. 25 tickets? That's it? We could give away 4000 for each home game and still have swathes of empty seats.

As an aside, should we not be going round local schools and giving primary kids free tickets? They're free to get in anyway, but actually having a ticket is more of an incentive to go.

Of course we should. They should have to be accompanied by an adult though, can't have hundreds of primary weans cutting about the place unsupervised. Maybe 4 kids to each adult tops. That would maybe attract a few more paying customers.

  6. To be fair, DW was signed on the basis that he had pace. In all his time playing for FFC I can't recall him using his pace. He was a player I could take or leave. He deffo has something but not always that keen to use it.

I hope he does well, can't help feeling he let himself down with us hence him not being offered a new contract.

    That about sums it up.

  7. Wee loan for Farid may install some excitement into the season. Not gonna happen though

Well, you're right it's not going to happen. He scored twice the other night so I can't see Brentford letting him go anywhere.

Maybe a loan move for Mark Millar would be possible though. He's played just a handful of games since his move and McNamara doesn't rate him apparently. He's exactly what we need at the moment.

  8. Sons good in first half and were relatively comfortable in possession. Falkirk hardly had a sniff. Fell apart in second and if it wasn't for the woodwork/extreme goalkeeping/goal-line clearances it could have been 5/6 to Falkirk.

Decent game at times but seemed to drag on. Incredible scenes at the end though.

    Dumbarton FC: Pride of Stirlingshire.

    Why, what happened?

  9. Can you save me the effort of trawling through various threads to tell me who Falkirk have signed and released?

    I've got absolutely no idea.

We've signed one midfielder who was with Holt at Norwich, a young guy, and we've released hunners. If we've made all of our signings I think we've very little chance of finishing second although some of the young guys should be a bit better. Another year older, more experience etc etc.

  10. I seriously doubt that we'll bring in 3 or 4 new players for the first team. I reckon McGovern will stay, and he along with Duffie, Kingsley, McGeever, Vaulks, Flynn, Scotty O, Alston, Sibbald, Fulton, Grant, McGrandles, Small and Taylor (plus maybe two more) will constitute FFC for next season.

This is the bit that I fear. I think big Dods did a lot of covering for Flynn last season. Who the hell's gonna do it next time? We definitely need to get an experienced centre back in. I thought Neilson may have been the man - apparently not? I can see us losing a hell of a lot of goals with the central defenders that we have at the moment!

  11. You blatantly said 'they don't give their heart every game', which to me says 'don't try hard enough' but let's just leave it here as you clearly see your mistake and are trying to cover for it. Plenty reasons to be positive for next season imo, will be interesting to see who else comes in, given that Holt now has Dods', Higgins', Weatherston's, Dale Fulton's and Flannigan's wages to make his own signings. Here's hoping for 1 or 2 inspirational, ambitious deals to get the crowd going again and boost ST sales that wee bit more, which can make a difference..

Didn't read it that way at all (unless I've missed another post of his). I think what he said (or tried to) is that, although they give their all, they shouldn't be kept on for that reason alone. I think.......probably!

  12. I had heard it got rescinded? Surely if the sending-off was in a senior competition it couldn't have been served through a non-senior game? I might have heard wrong of course.

From memory it had something to do with his age. I think we has only 16 at the time so was able to serve the ban in an under 19 game as this was always likely to be his next competitive match. If he hadn't and he was forced to serve it in his next senior game there would have been a very good chance that he wouldn't have served it at all.

  13. Taylor's more of a one man band, partly due to the way we play now. TBH he can sometimes come over as a bit of a fanny on the pitch although that's not as bad as it was at first. For about the first dozen or so games he seemed to pick up an injury, limping about the pitch for a few minutes in each game when I doubt there was anything wrong with him. There were plenty of other petulant incidents too. As I say though he seems to be toning that side of his game down.

Farid was more of a team player for me, again partly down to the way we played. Duffie for example is much less effective now because he doesn't have the cross to the striker available to him and he generally runs out of ideas now when he gets forward.

I think that it's fairly obvious that Lyle's a better footballer although I'm not entirely convinced that he's a better finisher. I think Farid was possibly more composed in front of goal and I haven't seen a striker as good as that in the air in all of the many years that I've followed Falkirk - just brilliant!

We all know too just how well Farid clicked with the fans. He genuinley did love playing for us and it was all great at the time. I just hope he gets over the terrible injury that he's had and gets back playing again soon.

We can only wonder and dream of what their combined strike force would have done. It would have been absolutely awesome!!

On a final note - what the feck are we going to do without Lyle next season?? Doesn't bear thinking about!
