  1. In a way, I'm embarrassed to have voted 'no' in this most meaningless of polls. I want Harvey to turn this around. Guess I'm guilty of the panic mentioned earlier. Several winnable games left, including and after tomorrow night, but still don't really see much improvement in the performances in 2019. Meanwhile, back at admingate, the ruling opens the door for malicious manipulation of the League table. Supposing Team A wanted Team B to stay in the League rather than Team C (pals on the respective Boards or teams? Financial benefit from local derbies?) Well there is now a precedent for team A to literally gift Team B 3 points simply by not filling in some appropriate paperwork. Not suggesting it happened in this case, but the door is open to allow it in the future. The punishment surely has to be limited to Clyde. It cannot include benefit or punishment for innocent parties. For me the game should be replayed, but still with a 3 point deduction for Clyde whatever the outcome.
  2. I'm surprised the wind hasn't changed for Harvey and he's been given the boot already. Actually, surprised he hadn't resigned as his record in 2019 is absolutely dreadful. 2 Questions for the Board. First, do they really think Harvey's team - now without the experience of O'Kane and probably Brydon can suddenly start winning, either in Div 2 or against a high flying Lowland/Highland side ? (Does anyone think that?) Second, is there any manager out there with the experience to get more out of this team? If so, go get him cos the answer to Q1 is most obviously 'no'
  3. Tend to agree that you can't change manager every 5 minutes, or in March. But I disagree that this team has "organisation". Today was an organisational shambles, real schoolboy stuff with no obvious plan and everyone racing around in their own little bubble.
  4. (my comments copied from the match thread) Hard to stomach watching such a desperately poor performance today. A game of epic inadequacy that would have shamed several levels below us. Beath are a half decent, well organised side that did what they needed to do for an away point, and with a bit more quality would have nicked all 3. They did OK. We, however, were just shite. Do we really train twice a week? Have they met each other? Is Johnny Harvey watching the same game as me? We were gifted the ball plenty of times by Beath, and the script was: bad first touch, foul 2nd touch or if we won the 2nd, aimless lump up the wing. That was generally agreed in the Ducket as the worst performance by a Berwick team for years. I watched a video of Bonnyrigg Rose last week and thought the standard was really poor, confirming Robbie Horn's disappointment to have dropped down a couple of levels. Well, they would handsomely beat us at the moment. We have some skilful players, and the manager needs to start taking responsibility for getting them to play as collectively badly as they did today.
  5. Goes without saying that we are in trouble due to our own shortcomings, but so are Albion. And they could now survive due to an admin error by another club. Replay the game maybe? The goal difference or a slim points difference means that Clyde's error could doom us to bottom place. Might seem OK to you to accept it because we are shite, but it doesn't to me. Hopefully 3 points today will ease the angst.
  6. I get why Clyde should be punished, but don't see why Albion should benefit and certainly don't see why Berwick should suffer. Butterfly wings eh? Someone's lazy admin work could potentially destroy an entirely innocent club. Surely Berwick should be launching a formal complaint, sueing Clyde, and generally having a tantrum.
  7. Yeah. Any snow will only be on the hills. No frost forecast Friday night. Likely to be a fair bit of rain between now and then but I'd have thought the pitch could cope with it.
  8. He's been away on trial in the USA for a couple of weeks. Philadelphia Union, I think. If it doesn't work out, he comes back to us. Shown some flashes of skill but difficult for him to impress in a side that concedes goals for fun.
  9. Just had a look at the line-ups at the start of the season. For instance, away to Cowden, from the starting line-up we have lost Willis, Lavery, Todd and Phillips. Gone from the bench are Fleming, Murrell and Neil. Now that team was crap - we lost 4-0 - but that represents a huge amount of SPFL experience being shown the door, and replacing it with the Penicuik 3 and a raft of youngsters from lower leagues and teenage loanees. The youngsters are arguably more gifted footballers, and some of those that left had lost the plot, but haemhorraging that much experience has left us even more fragile than we started off. Having said that, the current squad can only improve with time, whilst some of those mentioned will never play SPFL again, but for this season I think we are paying the price for ditching all that knowledge.
  10. Brennan is OK ( but doesn't collect crosses as well as Allison). Orru is injured. Harvey has (I think), never dropped any of his 3 Penicuik recruits, so Forbes will surely be right back and Hume will be in Central defence if he recovers from the knock he got on Tuesday. I think the lineup is more likely to be Brennan Forbes, Hume, Brydon, Cook Brown, Blues, Barr, Ogilvie Adamson Aloulou. (Healey needs a rest). If Hume is out, Mcilduff can go left back and Cook Centre-half. Wilson would be a big risk unless he us told that we are playing one touch football and he has to lump it immediately. O'Kane may also be an option over Ogilvie.
  11. No. Came on as sub once and looked poor. Never featured since.
  12. Rearranged games:- Feb 26th: Annan (Home) March 5th: Edinburgh (Away) March 12th: Queen’s Park (Home) By the time we meet Elgin at home on 23rd Feb we will have 3 games in hand over Albion, hopefully still with a decent points gap. Then it is 6 games for us in 22 days. 4 of them at home, and 1 away to Albion. Crunch time!
  13. He left weeks ago. Surname wasn't suitable for starters.
  14. Willis off to Peterhead, Murrell off to the nearest pub. Willis started the season well but has been crap and increasingly frustrated since coming back from injury. One of the highest paid in the squad, I think, and I'd be happy enough if we'd signed someone further back with that money. Seems though that we will sign nobody and that is seriously piss poor. How we will fail to concede 100 goals is not immediately obvious. On the other hand, I'd have paid Murrell's bus fare to pretty well anywhere.
  15. Still a chance in this window to get the defensive options in. I'm told the boss is working his socks off to try and make that happen. Maybe 2 or 3 to leave too if they want to play football between now and May. Still think Harvey is the right man for this job even if he has made a few early mistakes. Hope he can get the signings he needs and can get some confidence in the team. Big freeze this weekend might just help that too.
  16. Another striker signed on loan today. Pleasing in itself, but I'd love to know how the Manager thinks he is going sort out our feeble defence.
  17. Surprised Darren Lavery hasn't ended up there. Still a decent player in Phillips, somewhere. Hope Albion don't find him.
  18. Loads of anger and despair after a thoroughly embarrassing display at QP. This however, neatly sums up the bigger picture for me. On to Annan now, and just hoping Johnny Harvey can prove he is the Manager we all hoped he'd be.
  19. Decent post. Don't think there is any chance of us sacking Harvey, but there must be a small chance he'll resign. The team sways from promising signs to utter gash on a weekly basis. (As BTU says, bit like my posts). 2 or 3 disasters in a row, with the transfer window closed and Harvey could be toast. The biggest thing next week will be the reaction of the players. If they play like that again it suggests that they ain't overchuffed with the manager.
  20. The QP highlights are jaw droppingly awful. I doubt if it is possible to have 11 men on the pitch and afford the opposition so much space. They'd have to form a pyramid in one of the corners. Right from the outset we were regularly 20 yards or more away from the QP players. Astonishing. Fergie1 is right about the piss poor effort from our forwards. Healey, Willis, Knox - just terrible. Stonewall pen, and they should have had another. And Bob Wilson. Dear me. I so want Harvey to succeed but if he doesn't get this lot charging into tackles (and not getting sent off) next week, he needs to ask himself why
  21. Decent, honest interview that doesn't address many things that really matter the main one being that the heads go down at the first sign of the opposition daring to try and score. Most gutless and characterless team in our history, surely? I was told by someone who should know, that Allison is not as good as Adams, but just as volatile. Seems to be fair comment now. Chase him. Shot count since December is now 7 for, and 8467 against. Really can't see any way Harvey can get this bunch of spectating wimps to man up next week.
  22. 3 possibilities regarding delayed post match interview. 1. Shame - Already resigned 2. Anger - Still in dressing room giving the players a monumental bollocking 3. Embarrassment - Ducked it.
