I think having a few sporadic title changes on house shows would help a lot, even if it was just mid-card titles.  Having the main event bouts be non-title unless it's a really high-profile show(e.g. MSG) would also be a plus.  With the Network and social media etc. now, it'd be easy enough to have most fans clued up ahead of the next Raw.  For the fans, getting say, Roman/AJ live just before they're set to wrestle for the title on a PPV is a big enough selling point in itself without the hindrance of the title being on the line, more or less giving away the finish.

He's also in a fight with them over "The Big Guy" moniker

Pro Wrestling Sheet has learned Ryback is currently in the midst of trademark battle with WWE over “The Big Guy†… and the issue has only continued to escalate less than 24 hours after he was reportedly sent home from RAW.

According to the USPTO … Ryan Reeves, a.k.a. Ryback, filed a trademark on “The Big Guy†back in October for “conducting entertainment exhibitions in the nature of performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer.†However, WWE filed the exact same trademark just 3 months later.

Reeves’ filing was published for opposition this morning — which means any contending sides have 30 days to fight the filing or it’s his — but this doesn’t necessarily means Reeves pulled the trigger.

It’s possible WWE could have had their legal team push the USPTO to publish so they could oppose. It could also just be a random coincidence. At this point it’s impossible to tell. But with PWInsider reporting Reeves was sent home from RAW yesterday after contract talks went awry, we’re gonna guess it’s not the latter.

I was wondering last night that with WWE signing all these famous talents from other companies and actually keeping their previous name, have they loosened their grip on wanting full rights to people's merchandising rights or are they getting special treatment like CM Punk did?

There's surely no way people like Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Nakamura let WWE own their name after all these years.
