Livingston - all the threads merged

I am not surprised in the slightest. Sure Gnaw has an excuse why we haven't paid

More debt will be racked up this season with directors/owners/major creditors/assistant managers covering the short fall. Livi fans seem to not care a jot about this until the plug is eventually pulled

Shouldn't be to long a wait then?

McDougall has been awarded a decree at the Court of Session in Edinburgh over an outstanding £21,000 sum owed to him from the club.

And it is understood that sheriff court officers have frozen that figure in the Lions’ bank account.

Livingston have defaulted on an agreement to pay McDougall back a £260,000 director’s loan.

I think the biggest surprise in all that is that Livi actually have £21,000 in a bank account.

I think the biggest surprise in all that is that Livi actually have £21,000 in a bank account.

It was paid in by the new main sponsor, Livingston Heroin Emporium, in crumpled, blood stained fivers the day before.

A club spokesman said "Tell that c**t if he wants money he knows where we are."

You do have to question why on earth Livingston, out of all clubs, are signing players they know they'll be due compensation on.

It's not like they're world beaters. They'll be plenty of players out there of the same quality that come without that additional cost.

Really bizarre.

I'm quite worried that we've went for Crichton and Lithgow from you guys especially. A quick look at your thread suggests everyone is pretty much nonplussed about their departure.

They are decent enough defenders at this level (ie not complete and utter bombscares) however nowhere near the best defenders we've seen at the club in the past 2-3 years.

They'll do alright next season but nowhere near good enough for the championship. So looks like you're preparing for a few years down here.

Nothing about what money is owed to who - where is all the debt hiding? Who is the most likely to call in their directors loan next for some fun in the courts.

Who has bern sweeping up the profits from the last 3yrs as the playing budget seems to have been cut year on year.

Won't believe the Nixon or McDougall are resolved until there is something more tangible - been burnt so many times

No transparency on who is running the club

Fans Forum is months away

No mention who the "operating committee" are

This note tells us nothing other than they are desperate for season ticket money. They know the current mood of fans is not great so more. Likely a decrease in season tickets rather than an increase

Credit where credit is due applaud the school tickets initiatives

Dunno how they got money from Nixon as he reportedly (in the papers) went bust. Also the statement about McDougall flies in the face of the press reports earlier in the week.

Club is on a secure footing (but no mention of actually being close to £2,000,000 in debt.

I would say Rankine's boys are just trying a different approach. Funny that they chose to mention the lease on the stadium no longer up for sale despite years and years of denying that was what was really going on. Having said that, the football club could not sell their lease.............they simply wanted someone as bent as they were on the council to sell the stadium cheap in exchange for a wee kickback to augment their civil service pension.

There is no doubt that Rankine is still there behind the scenes.

Well the fans asked for an update, and got one.

Not sure the SFA will be too keen on an operating committee of volunteers running the show.

Aren't there rules on these things, criteria for fit and proper people to run football clubs?

Initially, I was quite happy to read the statement. Its quite open, covers a lot and clearly states some intentions.

However, it needs to be the first installment of a few updates over the next few days.

Not sure who writes the official statements these days but have noticed a change in approach recently. Always seems to be in anger or annoyance, always having a sly dig at moaning fans and a bit of petulance towards those who share rumours.

Not professional at all but shows a wee bit of passion, if nothing else.

Minimum wage applies to anyone regardless of age. It's set higher as you get older though.

If someone was on £200 p/w this wouldn't necessarily be illegal depending on how many contracted hours they work which for a footballer would be less than a typical 40 hour week I'd guess.

For £200 p/w an under 18 with a minimum wage of £3.87p/h would be able to work 51.6 hours

An under 21 with a minimum wage of £5.30 would be able to work 37.7 hours

For an under 25 with a minimum wage of £6.70 it would be 29.8 hours

For an over 25 on £7.85 it would be 25.4 hours

I don't know how many actual hours a footballer is contracted to work but I suspect that even on £200 p/w only an over 25 would be pushing it. By the time you add in appearance money, win bonuses and any other add-ons its actually not beyond possible they could be on £200 p/w and surely £250 p/w wouldn't be breaking the rules even for an over 25.

You are consuderably over estimating the working hours of a full time footballer. Any "full time" footballer on £200 per week has no minimum wage concerns. Indeed £150 would likely be fine unless they are with one of the Highland sides and doing a lot of travel time.

.

Is fit and proper not the clubs decision and all the sfa/spfl do is rubber stamp or tick the box?
