T_S_A_R
there's a two page spread with yates in the times today where he says he never saw any doping during his own career. he also talks about some called bradley wiggins. remember him?

Desert Nomad
vetoooo on twitter is saying horner averaged 6.7w/kg on the final climb. he was flying on the 20% section Riding some of the best riders in the world off his wheel, Nibali, Valverde, Rodriguez, guys who excel on a finish like today`s. Only Froome could`ve stayed with him today, or a 2011 Jose Cobo(whatever happened to him?) obviously. Edit: or perhaps not. 2011 Froome/Cobo 17 mins 16 secs 2013 Horner 16:44, Nibali/Roche 17:09 There are anomalies such as when the attacking started, and the fact that in 2011 it was a direct battle between 2 riders, whereas a few others were involved today. T_S_A_R
there were katusha and movistar doms pacing the early bits of the climb but horner's performance is still off the charts. much like froome on the alpe people are talking about nibali being weak despite his performance on paper being brilliant. we all knew this was going to happen post tour 2012. the arms race is well and truly on.
kiddy
It's just getting silly now, & is really destroying any faith people may have built up this season. Why don't guys like this just fcuk off? He's never shown anything like this sort of form in his whole career & he's consistently blowing one of the best two current riders out the back.

Desert Nomad
Horner drops Nibali again. Think he's gained time on him on nearly every uphill finish.

Any faith that "may" have been built up. Naive, that may be. But Horner's performance, having minimal form in any season, never mind this one, has done nothing bar wreck the image of the post-Lance era before it's really begun. What's the chances of him skelping Nibbles for a minute+ tomorrow? >_> Edited September 13, 2013 by kiddy

Valverde & Purito need too much time I'd say, would probably have to attack Horner at the bottom of the climb. The Angliru is like Zoncolan in the Giro, more a case of surviving as best you can rather than making any preplanned attack. These two climbs are on another level from anything you'd see in the Tour, but due to their incredible steepness, don't always provide the fireworks you might expect. well fan for life
I really fucking hate people who pish on any success as doping, and I'm not one to do it myself. But what in the name of f**k is going on here? A man who has never done anything significant in any Grand Tour, has had piss all form all season and never looked to be a serious contender is suddenly riding some of the best stage racers in the world off his wheel. All this at the age of 42.
kiddy
Imlach & Backstedt were talking of it being wet on the Angrilu. Could that play into Nibali's hands?

All this at the age of 42. he's been watching for the past 12 months and decided to do what everyone else is doing only do more of it and with absolutely no shame (getting banned is nothing when your 42). there wasn't one positive in the tour, it's fair to say that the cheats are miles ahead of the testers at the moment. -
Fife Saint
Does testing take place during the Vuelta?

You could have put your house on that happening. He's obviously been doing a lot of testing during his time recuperating from "injury". Takes the shine off a fabulous ride by Ellisonde.
kiddy
Does testing take place during the Vuelta?Following the outcome of the Puerto court case, & the destruction of samples. Allied to previous Vuelta winners like Cobo, perhaps the question should be does testing take place in Spain?
kiddy
That had to be perhaps THE most outrageous GT win EVER. Makes Landis Tour win look ok.

Shuggie_Murray7
I haven't followed a single stage of this years Vuelta, until today as I saw it was the Angrilu.....so imagine my, let's call it surprise, to see Chris fucking Horner absolutely destroying Nibali to essentially win the Vuelta. Absolutely hilarious stuff.
