The Grass Is Greener.
The videos of that explosion going around are unbelievable. The one from inside the room that smashes the windows is genuinely terrifying.

ICTChris
Some suggestions it's a firework factory. I think that a country like Lebanon (long history of bombings, civil war and conflict) should maybe just import fireworks.
Inanimate Carbon Rod
The force of that explosion looks incredible. Cars over a kilometre away turned upside down etc.
ICTChris
The initial reports on news sites say "there are reports of injuries" - there's going to be signifcant numbers of deaths from this, surely? I've seen someone suggest that it was a grain silo that blew up after a fire and that explains why so many people managed to film the blast - they were already filming the fire when the massive explosion came. No idea if that is true or even plausible.
ICTChris
On some of the clips you can see flashes that look like fireworks in the initial explosion. I also remember seeing a similar video of a firework warehouse blowing up in Holland about 10-15 years ago that looked similar to this.
Sergeant Wilson
This looks more like you'd expect a firework factory blowing up to be like.
itzdrk
Must be either a fireworks factory or a place they make munitions, the red smoke is apparently caused by lithium which would point to fireworks.

I read an article a few days ago about the affect of the pandemic on Lebeanon - it's caused the governments and economy to completely collapse, in combination with an ecomonic/currency crisis that was already underway pre-pandemic. It's plausible that workers in a fireworks factory weren't getting paid or couldn't make it in so stayed at home.
ICTChris
Reports that there was a fire on a ship carrying fireworks that has triggered a secondary explosion in the grain silos. Lebanese Health Minister has stated this. Lebanese Army major general has said that some confiscated muntions may also have been stored there, dating back a number of years.
