Henry's Disallowed Goal

Anyone seen this?

He hung around as the keeper was about to punt the ball, and as the keeper released the ball to kick, he nicked it away and dribbled it into the net.

Nothing wrong with it, the ball isn't in hand. Why was it disallowed? They then showed two other occasions of it happening, another with Henry, and one with Kenny Miller. Both were disallowed.

Have they changed the f'kin rules or are keepers just (as usual) being over-protected?

When the Blackburn goal was disallowed it was said that the keeper kicking the ball was one movement (even if the ball is not in his hands) & attempting to stop it before he kicks the ball in unsporting conduct.

Don't see anything wrong with it IMO but at least they are being consistent.

It was changed with the whole 6 second rule if i remember correct. Since keepers dont have any spare time to take, all players must get out of the way of the keeper. Not only should the goal have been dissalowed but from what i remember the player should get a yellow card too.

Also if you allowed the goal then all striker would start doing it every week and it would ruin the game. Henry is being nothing but a cheeky git in trying to do this not once but twice. He should have been booked for it imo.

That's exactly what used to happen in the early days. I have some Pathé news reels of St. Mirren in cup finals etc and players were diving in on the keeper trying to punt it clear. They were lunging in at waist height, and he was twisting around running all over the penalty box before clearing it. Bizarre, and in total contrast to the protection keepers get nowadays.

Ah those were the days... when you could charge a keeper into the net while he was holding the ball and still get a goal... no yellow or red cards in those days, well there wouldn't be... everything was black and white in those days.
