flyingrodent
Put simply, the press aren't reporting the CF stuff because none of it can be independently verified. Not sure why they see this as such a problem, mind. In the past, many tabloids in particular have been quite happy to run stories along the lines of "This website says... Could not be verified... Troubling claims" etc and so on.

flyingrodent
The recent phone hacking scandals? Maybe so, but the problem with those weren't that the stories were *inaccurate*, or even that the data was illegally obtained. The problem was that the newspapers themselves were intentionally committing crimes to get stories.

The other issue is that the stuff could be faked, it's up to CF to show his or her credentials and then the 'proper' media may publish the emails.

All kinds of heinous, unforgivable crimes may have been committed, but that's no concern for the press, so long as it wasn't e.g. a Daily Record employee who did the thieving. So whatever it is that's discouraging the tabloids, it's not legality, and even the issue over verifying the data isn't much of a problem, so long as they make clear it's an anonymous source saying something.
Apache Don
This is raised in the match thread. It seems that the Ramsden's Cup games have been somehow made exempt from the ruling, even though said ruling only refers to "official matches". The mere suggestion of an issue was enough to send BP into incoherent, sweary, ranting mode. You mean his default setting.

You sure about the legality aspect? Hell despite his bluster even Greenslade won't publish them, same with Ms Haggerty in the drum. The other option is that the CF stuff is faked. Well, I could always be wrong, but I've always understood that "Mr (x) says (y)" is a statement of fact, so long as Mr (x) is actually saying (y).Mind you, Britain's libel laws are an outrage, geared entirely towards helping rich people avoid scrutiny. The other option is that the CF stuff is faked. Its nothing to do with legality, it doesn't matter how they try to put it. It won't be in their own interest to publish it, as it will cast a dark shadow over all the tabloids.
