No8.
FFS lads, reading the input from some people over the last few pages you would think Scotland was a major powerhouse in European club competitions. We've had a few good runs (7 finals - 3 wins, and 1 Super cup win). We're basically not as good as some people try to make out. Rangers 4 finals..Celtic 3 Finals ... Aberdeen and Dundee United 1 final each. 2 finals in the recent past. Now we cant even get teams into the competitions proper and are falling down the co efficient table at an alarming rate.
AberdeenBud
No they are not. Unless you believe the falsified attendance figures clubs release to the press. The absence of Rangers has been dreadful for Scottish footballs top flight. It has been great for the lower leagues though I wasn't sure if they did or not. I thought it was the next rounds losers that entered the Europa League...Ach well more laughs at their expense and money to be won at the bookies Yes.They.Are. I have some spare tinfoil if you need some for a new hat? How has the absence been dreadful? perhaps you've been away in the seaside too long, but it's been great and long may it continue. You weren't sure? I'd make sure next time before I introduce a tubthumping catchphrase into all my posts.

I wonder if there have been huge significant structural changes over that period which ensure that a repeat is impossible. You're now being a bit silly.

Rangers were in a final 6 years ago. celtic were playing in the last 16 of the champions league 2 or 3 years ago. But never mind everything is booming in the top flight.

bennett
Plenty have said it's bearing up well and I've been among them (assuming you mean the top flight). In many ways, Scottish football is doing well in the ways that matter to those who aren't OF fans though. Cups have been spread round more, as have European slots against a backdrop in which gates have not really suffered. When set against the Armageddon based bullying at the outset, it does seem to be booming, but of course, it's not really. You don't need to adopt an extreme view you know guys, just because those you see as enemies insist on doing so. Call it fence sitting if you think it's smart to do so though Bennett. Enemies, what were you drinking last night? Enemies ffs lol Scottish fitba is crash diving like a u boat escaping from a mosquito right now and to imply that everything is hunky dory is laughable and merely adds to your WKR lite tag. No sponsorship for the booming league The booming league having to pay tv companies to show games after they lost the old firm games The cringe worthy actions of the SPL in forcing the SFL to 'join up'. No one on here has ever been able to explain why Stewart Milne was in tears when it looked like the SFL had rejected their 'merger'.... and why it was so important to merge the leagues. Stewart Gilmour panicking and offering 'square goes' to SFL chairmen. A booming 1 horse race league. -

I thought it was the next rounds losers that entered the Europa League...Ach well more laughs at their expense and money to be won at the bookies correction...... it has been dreadful for The Rangers, both dead and re-animated versions. it has taking a fair bit of wind out of Celtic's sails. for a'body else it has been a breath of fresh air...... maybe some quibbling acceptable from the Edinburgh direction, but that was their own issues and nothing to do with the demise of Rangers.

That's why I said the vast bulk of them happened decades ago, rather than all of them and I obviously stand by it. The bulk of them actually had taken place by a date over 40 years ago, midst an absolutely unrecognizable footballing landscape, so citing these thing in order to trace a genuine decline is redundant and stupid. If you want to keep just saying "booming" all the time though, please batter on.

The two horse race only mattered to the riders, so we now have something no worse at all in that respect.

All speaking on behalf of the "institution" we're all supposed to be missing.
bennett
Toiling? Did it not come down to the last game of the season? Where have Motherwell finished in the last three seasons? Ken Fitlike
The famous Aberdeen toiling behind Motherwell is a breath of fresh sir for wee Ken.... Full house at Pittodrie. Rocking atmosphere even for a relatively disappointing 90 minutes match and significant league position issue decided with last kick of the season Motherwell beat us. No complaints from me. Breath of fresh air it was. Like the fresh air that Clangers grabbed when Sutton came bereenging in.
