Ira Gaines
Aye, I'm not having Frankie Edgar ahead of McGregor. Cub Swanson is a much improved fighter these days and although he doesn't necessarily sell PPVs, MMA IS supposed to be a sport, with the best fighters going for the belts. I'd say Swanson is the #1 contender next.

Ira Gaines
Well, in that case, I'd say sure, give Edgar the shot, and hand McGregor to Swanson. In which case McGregor beats him too and gets everyone to shut the f**k up.

That's the ideal scenario for me, like you say it is a sport and there's no point making a match between the #2 and #3 if the winner isn't going to get the shot, whether they've had a shot before or not. If McGregor then beats the loser of that then it least it can't be said he deserves the next tilt at it on merit.
Ludo*1
How did J.R and Chael perform at Battlegrounds?
Shuggie_Murray7
Are we forgetting that Aldo already knocked Swanson out in just 7 seconds? Swanson is probably in my top 5 favourite guys to watch....but I'd mych rather see Aldo vs McGregor.

Next stop for me should be an eliminator against the current top contenders.
banana
Seems White is up for McGregor being the next to have a shot at the title! http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/10/2/6896795/dana-white-suggests-conor-mcgregor-likely-to-get-next-featherweight Holloway to Brandao to Poirier straight to Aldo is some ask.
Ira Gaines
As I said, Swanson is an improved fighter these days, so his loss to Aldo isn't a fair comparison point.
Ira Gaines
Rory MacDonald must be pushing for title contention soon. Lawler his only recent loss. I'd imagine a fight with the loser of Hendricks/Lawler is the best bet.
Shuggie_Murray7
I could see ERory beating Hendricks, not so sure he could beat Lawler at the second attempt.
banana
Few meh events there at the weekend. Nice finish by Holloway, and hilarious crowd reaction to his Jesus praising. You're not in bibleland now, Maxy.
Marshmallo
Hendricks would knock MacDonald out inside two rounds.
Shuggie_Murray7
He lasted with Lawler and I reckon Lawler hits harder.

DigOutYourSoul
Cain out of the 180 main event. Now headlined by an 'interim' title match between Werdum and Hunt.
Marshmallo
That's awful. I give Hunt a real chance in that one though.
banana
Cain out of the 180 main event. Now headlined by an 'interim' title match between Werdum and Hunt. As much as I love Cain, his fight frequency is shocking, especially for a belt holder.
Shuggie_Murray7
If Mark Hunt wins the interim title it may just be the greatest stroy in combat sports history.
DigOutYourSoul
McGregor vs Siver in January apparently. Whiteford was supposed to fight Siver last month but was injured so does that put a bit of perspective on where both McGregor and Whiteford stand? Or just a way to keep McGregor ticking over?
