After 50 years of court battles, The Nepalese government recently agreed a rename and awarded three billion pounds in compensation to the mountain's inventor, Kenny Everett. When Edmund Hillary climbed Everest, he climbed the second highest mountain in the world. Due to a massive earthquake 2 weeks before his ascent, Everest dropped as K2 was faulted upwards, before the earth's crust rebalanced to make Everest the tallest once again.
