300k might be nothing long term for Lochhead if he develops as Wolves hope so you'd hope we have a wee sell on clause. But equally, it could easily be the highest fee he goes for in his career.

As has been said above, they're buying potential for pocket change and 300k for a 16 year old nowhere near our squad can't really be turned down for a club our size IMO.

He is near our squad, he's been on the bench every game this season.

16 year old (CB I think?) we're well stocked in that area.

I doubt we're chasing him out of the door but if it's an offer too good to refuse for him and us then...

Brutally honest, they see a decent prospect they can buy for cheap and develop to then sell on for more money. We can't really chuck a 16 year old in to the first team consistently.

We all better get used to this scenario happening on a fairly regular basis.  Dundee finally appear to have a good reputation for developing young players.  That will definitely not go unnoticed by clubs down south.  If we can get a decent sell on clause then we have to accept this is part of the modern game and that it can benefit the player, the buying club and Dundee.

Selling youth talent for good money helps us continue to build our academy's reputation which is currently blowing the 'Project Brave' nonsense out of the water - Strachan's plan is easily proving more successful IMO. And it allows us to continue the conveyor belt and help keep current talents at the club.

It's all a positive. It might be a wee bit sore in the future when a youngster we sell for £300k or so becomes a superstar but that's all part and parcel of where we are in the food chain and the players we can sell. If we continue the way we're going, the fees we can get for untested 16 year olds will only increase.

Only cause of lack of numbers we’ve pretty much had 2 keepers on the bench at points

Docherty has said multiple ties that he wants a 3 keeper system in place. I wonder, even when we have a full selection, if he'll still name 2 keepers on the bench because he still did it a lot last season even towards the end of the season when we were well stocked.

In Doc we trust , don’t suppose you happen to know the benefit of a three goalkeeper system?

I completely agree with this, yeah the odd one here or there and it will work like we've seen in the past, but you start to throw every 16 year old in to the team every week irs going to come back and bite you, look at Hamilton for instance,  they tried filling there team with youngsters and they got relegated twice

With the GK coach it means they'll be an even number and constantly working rather than waiting for one to finish etc. Other than that, I've no idea.
