Well that has drastically reduced my chances of making the game.

There'll be a sizeable section of people turning up for this still drunk.

That did cross my mind. If the idea of the (very) early kick-off time is to reduce drinking time, someone needs to look at the date it's being played.

Would it also be cynical to suggest the police are looking for easy "next day" drink drivers? Hammering home the festive message and all that...

The derby on New Year's Day has been brought forward to 12.15pm and live on BT.

Was thinking we'd end up with an evening kick off like the Edinburgh derby this year. I'll most likely be hammered from the night before.

Do we have any other televised fixtures?

Nope.

It's unlikely we'll have any televised home fixtures except Celtic and United the second time round because four is the maximum we're obligated to let the broadcasters move. That's why the Aberdeen game wasn't on TV despite appearing an almost certain pick.

Away games are different, but as a newly-promoted side the appeal to audiences might be low.

Yeah, I was thinking that. I'm quite happy with keeping TV appearances to a minimal, avoids the Sunday kick off times,

The last time I remember a New Year's Day derby was at Tannadice. It must have been about 25 years ago. It was below freezing and there were plenty of people suffering who hadn't been home and were still in their 80s shiny party suits. A ballboy collapsed with the cold (or something) and was carted off. There were also a couple of coppers in the our end who were quite shamelessly cheering on the Dee on overtime. Nice.

Yesterday's Tele/today's online one says we are after Heart's and former Rangers keeper Scott Gallacher. He played against us during pre-season. He appears to be the Steve Harper of Scottish football aka, the perennial benchwarmer.
