Another three points, a clean sheet and top of the league. Not a bad day all round.

An interesting tactical game.

Once down to 10 Mo sat in well and allowed the Rovers to attempt to break them down. Rovers enjoyed lots of the ball and played some nice stuff. The goal came from a cracking Cross from Reid and a great header from McNeil.

Didn’t see much from Ross McNeil in pre-season to suggest he would trouble the first XI but he was very impressive in this game. I suppose it doesn’t hurt to have your first start against 10 men but he looked like he had a good touch as well as an ability to be in scoring positions. . Rovers continued to play patient football with Squib getting a lot of joy down the right wing a real contender for MOTM. There were points that Mo tried to drag us into a fight in an attempt to perhaps even up the numbers but we for the most part kept the head and dominated the game.

This went on till about the 75 minute when Mo decided they had soaked up enough pressure and it was time to go on a raid to try and earn something. I think “under the cosh” would be going a bit OTT but they certainly interrupted the afternoon stroll the Dunlop Bros were having up till that point a couple of good saves from Parry but nothing major. Them committing them forward allowed us to break and kill the game with Marky Mark running most of the Mo half and slotting away coolly hopefully this will do a lot for this confidence after that he looked hungry for more and Rovers could have had a few more.

Refreshing to see an Albion Rovers team able to go about this kind of task professionally not getting over excited or dragged into a fight but to sit patently until they come at us and then kill the game. Something other teams have done to us so many times. 5 games ,12 points and top of the league not too shabby lets hope it continues.
