Gullane No 4
Always a minefield for the amateur. What is your memorable one. Our local farmer once had a sign that said 'Caution Crap on the Road' [ Someone complained to the police who laughed and said he was just being honest] 'Bag your own manure'. [yuk] 'Cafe Left Under Bridge' [bloody careless]
Hillonearth
Farmers again, but we saw a cracker north Lancashire/south Cumbria way: "Lambs and half lambs for sale" - halfway up a hillside full of lambs. We were wondering if there would be some poor wee fucker with no back end dragging itself across the field.
Cardinal Richelieu
If someone (especially the NI lads) could post a link to the Fairhill Shopping Centre advert from the 90s which took the piss out the Ballymena accent, I'd be a happy happy lad. It basically involved a farmer standing in a field extolling the virtues of said shopping centre (with no reason), along with choice phrases such as "it's a great big shopping center in Ballymena hey" and "It's outstanding... in its field". Pure class (unless you lived in Ballymena). If you're not sure what you're getting at, this chap had a similar accent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDhSFxu5LXg
