WhiteRoseKillie
My best mate is a Celtic fan and he's a top bloke. Are you saying there are absolutely no decent Rangers fans and that every OF fan is a glory hunting bigot? All I'm saying is that the entire Rangers fiasco isn't that funny as its been dragging on so long. There are some Rangers fans who are completely harmless and just want to support their football team, but have to deal with endless nonsense. If I'm an 'Old Firm sympathiser' for having empathy for decent Rangers fans then fair enough, but anyone arriving at that conclusion is very narrow-minded, and probably a bit of a scumbag. I'm with Beltur on this one. It's about as bigoted an attitude as WRK would accuse Celtic and Rangers supporters of having. Each and all entitled to their opinion, obviously, and it'd be a poor world run to my rules, most likely. However, I stick by my statement - with this qualifier: If you follow either rangers or celtic and do not actively contribute to a systematic and serious campaign to rid "your" club of the sectarian baggage associated with it, then you're not a "decent" fan. Condoning, ignoring, denying - all tactics of celtic and rangers fans when their clubs' less acceptable sides are pointed out, all tacit support of these characteristics, and all part of the problem. If anyone can explain how the glorification of violence, terrorism and sectarian divisions is "decent", or somehow relevant to football, please go ahead. Once you've convinced me there's a connection, we can move onto corruption, criminality and theft. Now, let's get back to the pointing and laughing. One of my absolute favourites: -
shull
Decent? Mouth shut Sitting on their hands But still tapping their feet along to The Billy Boys or an IRA ditty. Not decent at all. Beltur
That's not what I've said. I'm talking about the decent, everyday Rangers supporter, of which I am sure there are many. I haven't said anything about sectarianism, as I'm not interested in it - only you have.
1320Lichtie
I witnessed that first hand. Was in Glasgow with my last girlfriend and we had absolutely feck all to do that day. Was down at Springfield quay having lunch and convinced her to let me go see the football. Sorted out two tickets. Went along and watched it, utterly dreadful, these 2 Sevco goblins spent the entire game trying to chat her up whilst I was there, eventually told her were going to the loo and on return I sat where she was. The game was dreadful, absolutely dreadful, Terry Masson played a blinder though was good seeing him and then when the Mo scored I let out a wee laugh. What a goal. Ibrox was pretty packed to and you had the 40 or so tops Mo fans going mental could hear each individual from the club deck. Superb scenes
Ken Fitlike
Decent? Mouth shut Sitting on their hands But still tapping their feet along to The Billy Boys or an IRA ditty. Not decent at all. Why can't the majority shut up the so called minority? I think the crux of the matter is that on both sides, the majority (I believe that is true) of decent guys go along to watch their team ( no matter what their family /social / religious back-story) but put the blinkers on and buy into a 'it's just a bit of banter' mindset which allows the nasty, unacceptable undercurrents to fester on. too much hassle to go against the vociferous rabbles

This "majority" must have selective hearing as well as blinkers. And by associating with the "minority"* they run the risk of " if you fly with the crows... " * I reckon that was one hell of a minority at Hampden the other week, BTW...

Paco
The current slow, dawning realisation that what we've been telling them all along is true - this isn't Rangers anymore. McCoist knows it now, McDowell knows it now, 40,000 fans who used to go every week know it now. The rest of them will get there. Glorious. SimonLichtie
Remember when they were going nuts over a Time magazine article who got it spot on- “Their vile and violent fans are everything that’s wrong with football." “If Rangers were to fold, some of the religious hatred could be drained and perhaps new rivalries might develop in the SPL.” http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/old-firm-fans-fury-after-877829 'But last night, Mark Dingwall, of Rangers Supporters Trust, said: “I think the writer is deranged and wildly out of touch. We are not a sectarian club.”' Hadn't seen this before, the above quote is just so amusing, for so many reasons. 'five pages' is pushing it, three pages and a front/ back cover at best. This is the sort of shit someone does at school to make a presentation up to the minimum page limit An SPL chairman who was present at the meeting said last night: “The brochure was very unimpressive and even more so because the wee diddy clubs got copies that were stapled together, but Celtic’s was spiral bound. “It was also more than unfortunate that they were open at the page which referred to the voluntary transfer embargo when somebody got an alert on their Blackberry to say that Ian Black had announced he would sign for Rangers if they were accepted into the SPL.” :D
