Sunrise
Surprised this hasn't been brought up yet - the SJFA AGM allowing regions to decide when pre-season fixtures can begin with the North now starting on 1st July (not third Saturday in July as elsewhere) - (from northregionjfa.pitchero.com) Clubs in the North Region are free to play friendly matches from the 1st of July following a rule change at the Scottish AGM in Perth. Clubs were previously stopped from playing friendlies until the third week in July and led to clubs missing out on playing some high profile opposition but this relaxation in the rules will now allow clubs to play clubs from a higher level who's season is due to start earlier. Will West and East follow suit at our forthcoming regional AGM's? Can only be a good thing for bigger friendly opportunities.

An outbreak of common sense, especially since so many North clubs traditionally arrange pre-season games with Highland league clubs. Because of the timetable for the end of season play offs, the HFL clubs were due to start their competitive fixtures early, on the 18th July, the very day the Juniors could start playing friendlies! Burnie_man
The third Saturday in July rule was abolished, each Region now has the option to set their own start dates although that could get a little confusing if different dates are selected. Vollyman
East Region is still 3rd Saturday in July passed at AGM the reason being that the season did not finish until 13th June
Burnie_man
Hopefully someone proposes an earlier start at the next AGM, clubs should be able to play when they want.
vinnie-7
When does pre season start for most teams in Aberdeen area? I would say that the majority would've started this week. Although not Aberdeen, Nairn St Ninian started last night.
