Have to say that Murray's lack of form is really worrying.

Not done anything since the surgery and getting beat again and again by players he would have put away last year.

Surgery or just a lack of motivation?

Beaten by Giraldo very comfortably in straight sets, first time he's beaten a top 10 player too. Definitely looks a shadow of the player he was last year.

He's never been a great clay court player but the back surgery doesn't look like a success to me, is it possible he won't even be a top 10 player come Wimbledon?

It's not really possible he will be outside top 10 as hardly any points to defend and well clear of 9th.

After Wimbledon he could drop like a stone though!

Just had a wee look at the rankings and he's got over half his points to defend round about Wimbledon (Queens & Wimbledon 2250 points).

Going to get very difficult for Murray as I don't see him picking up many points in the clay season even though he has very little to defend (he's already lost points at Madrid after making QF's last year), if this form continues he'll be playing in the first round of Masters tournaments soon.

He is currently 12th in the race to London. He will fall behind at least one more place. Andre Agassi once dropped outside the top 100 in the world after being world no.1 only to come back and reclaim the no.1 spot again. Form is temporary, class is permanent.

Once he gets his new coach, you will see the old Murray in time for the grass court season.

That's because he was smoking crack (according to his autobiography). ;)

He never smoked crack. He took Crystalised Methamphetamine due to depression because of his slump.

It's clay though. Murray's poor serve and excellent return, normally mean a break bonanza on slower surfaces. Melzer is a big server, but isn't as good with spin or direction as other big hitters. Murray wins the first set 7-6 (1).

Murray has not faced Nadal as a Grand Slam champion. They last played each other in 2011. Youhzny is currently 5-3 down in the first set. So it is more than likely that they will play each other for the first time in three years.

Nadal gifts Youhzny the break back. 5-5 in the first. The King of Clay doesn't look as invincible as he has in previous years.

Youhzny takes the set.

Interesting. Reports are that Aljaz Bedene, a Slovene, will declare for Britain inthe Davis Cup. Based in Hertfordshire and the LTA have been wooing him. Very decent singles player, already reaching top 60-ish. Also a natural clay courter.

Final decision on whether he'd be welcomed into the fold will go down to Murray.

By wooing him, you mean they have offered him increased sponsorship and wild card opportunities. He can apply for a British passport early next year. If they want to win the Davis Cup they will need better than Bedene though.
