HibeeJibee
Not guaranteed that there will be any, of course, but with Edusport and St Cuthbert fighting-it-out for SOSL title it looks a distinct possibility. Everyone will want to avoid bottom, certainly. Threave trail considerably but they have the advantage of games-in-hand and head-to-heads. Hitting form could recover the deficit. Expectations? Predictions? http://slfl.co.uk/tables/league/ Threave Vale of L Preston Gala FR P13 3pts P15 14pts P18 15pts P16 17pts Sat 2 Jan | Dalbeat'e (H) odd team Whitehill (H) Selkirk (H) | Sat 9 Jan | Edin City (A) Spartans (H) Cumb Colt (A) odd team | Sat 16 Jan | Gretna (H) Selkirk (A) Dalbeat'e (H) Edin City (H) | Sat 23 Jan | Dumf YMCA (H) Civil Ser (H) Selkirk (A) Gretna (A) | EOSQC R3 / SOC R2 Sat 30 Jan | Whitehill (H) Edin Univ (A) Gala FR (A) Preston (H) | Sat 6 Feb | Selkirk (A) Dalbeat'e (H) Edin City (A) Gretna (H) | Sat 13 Feb | East Kilb (A) | SCC R3 NE Sat 20 Feb | Cumb Colt (H) Gretna (A) odd team Stir Univ (A) | Sat 27 Feb | Stir Univ (A) Gretna (H) Spartans (H) | SOC R3 Sat 5 Mar | East Kilb (H) | SCC AI R1 Sat 12 Mar | Preston* (A) BSC Glas (H) Threave* (H) Whitehil* (A) | groundhop / *Sun 13 Sat 19 Mar | | Sat 26 Mar | | Sat 2 Apr | | SCC SF Sat 9 Apr | Gala FR (A) East Kilb (A) odd team Threave (H) | Sat 16 Apr | Edin Univ (H) Cumb Colt (H) BSC Glas (A) odd team | last day no dates yet Spartans (H) Edin City (H) Stir Univ (H) Vale of L (H) Stir Univ (H) Threave (H) Dalbeat'e (A) Vale of L (H) Gala FR (A) East Kilb (A) BSC Glas (A) Threave (A) Spartans (A) Vale of L (A)
surely not!
I'd be surprised if threave were able to amass enough points to catch any of the teams above them as it currently stands. Never mind the fact that some of those sides will inevitably pick up further points in the remainder of the season.
HibeeJibee
If they won both head-to-heads against Vale they'd effectively cut the gap to them to only 5pts, with 2 games in hand. They're 12pts behind Preston, but have 5 games in hand, and still to face them (the Sunday tea-time game during the groundhop). So while it clearly requires an upturn in results... they've only won 3 games all season; at Whitehill on opening day, and v St Cuthbert & Wigtown in the South Challenge Cup... it's not impossible. DensParkNumber1
Pretty much is though. 3 points all season yet you expect them to quadruple that? no chance

Games in hand are irrelevant IMO here HJ. To use a method you've used yourself, they have a ppg quotient of 0.23 with all Other challengers at about 1 ppg or above. Can't see how that's gonna change. If dundee United win all their games etc.........
HibeeJibee
Fair points. By the same token we have seen the likes of Leicester City and Ross County totally turn their fate around after Christmas last season. If Threave could nibble the deficit by a couple or few points between now and March, and hit form in the last month mainly playing fellow bottom 5 teams...? In their previous game against Preston they only lost 1-0. It looks fairly unlikely, though, granted. I just look out for exciting run-ins! And I can't work why one of those predicting relegation in the summer didn't spot it ...
