EAST WEST DIVIDE

I think the west definitely stronger, more players play the game west coast.

Also no real lowland teams in west either who seem to take a lot of East coast junior standard players meaning the lower grade of east coast junior is really amateur standard which has a knock on diluting the overall amateur standard.

Is the correct answer!

THere are really an awful lot of semi pro teams at junior, lowland and EOS level that hoover up the sort of players that are playing amateur in the west.

THe central scotland area, ie Shotts, livingston bathgate, falkirk, stirling, etc, has a few junior sides, but in not nearly the same concentration as the east so, in these areas amateur sides are stronger as they are not competing with as many semi pro teams.

Simply as that really.

The west has always been stronger going from amateur to junior, you just need to look at the winners of the Scottish cups over the yrs, the East did dominate for a good few yrs in the juniors with Bathgate Linlithgow etc in the early 2000s but not a lot of East amateur teams.
