Sure. But if they must have a statue why not a statue of an Irish hero?

NotThePars
Aye, there's a long road before this all inclusive, tolerant multi cultural Ireland materialises. The momentum for a socially progressive vision of the future clearly resides much more in the Republic than it does in the North. When is Northern Ireland going to legalise abortion or same-sex marriage?

DublinMagyar
We'll be parading down O'Connell Street in the all inclusive, tolerant, multi cultural Ireland of equals, prior to unveiling the newly reinstalled statue of Nelson.I'll bring the popcorn and Kevlar suits

Wiki claims the DUP exercised their veto to prevent same-sex marriage passing through Stormont before so how would Sinn Fein be able to get it through this time?

I think Sinn Fein's attitude to same sex marriage is similar to Corbyn's on Brexit. I believe it's only recently they've mentioned it in public. The Petition of Concern will either be amended/rescinded all together/not exercised in this instance.

John Lambies Doos
A statue of a traitor? No thanks.Oh dear, he was instrumental in labour movement in Scotland, advisor to Keir Hardie and did much to push for equal rights for marginalised communities in Edinburgh. Traitor to who????
