JamieStevenson
After the success of SmackDown Live's first PPV Backlash, we move on to their second, bringing back No Mercy on 9th October. Coming out of Backlash we have the best champions possible. There's a chance that this PPV might go the full 3 hours, but if not that's fine as the shorter format was praised on here and worked really well. The main event has AJ Styles stuck right in the middle of two big feuds, which has culminated in in a triple threat match with Dean Ambrose and the returning John Cena. The Miz is currently refusing to defend his IC title until his contract demands are met. He's engaged in a pretty fun war of words with GM Daniel Bryan and has been called out as a coward by Dolph Ziggler, who is raging that Miz/Maryse cheated to win at Backlash in what was the match of the night imo. Miz had taken on Dolph Ziggler once again and cheated to win with the spray. As we take a look back at The Miz's career in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio... A certain show stopper came out begging for one last match and putting his career on the line as he was almost in tears. The passionate promos these two have been producing are superb. Miz & the production team have been showing us some excellent video packages of Dolph Ziggler's career. The Miz even brought back members of The Spirit Squad to give Ziggler a beatdown on Miz TV. Becky Lynch is the first SmackDown Women's champion and will be kick starting her reign against the winner of the fatal 5 way, Alexa Bliss Heath Slater and Rhyno are the first SmackDown Tag Team champions. They put their belts on the line immediately after Heath signed his SDLive contract, against The Ascension, which they won. They'll be looking to take on all comers, most likely The Usos & American Alpha. In an update, Usos defeated American Alpha to become #1 contenders. Since Nikki Bella's return she has been coming to blows with the recently turned heel Carmella. That match will likely have a place on this card. Match has been made, all they've done is batter each other for the past month or so, no real storyline at all here. Bray Wyatt (who must be on one of the longest PPV losing streaks ever) will resume his feud with Randy Orton and get to have the match that they were actually scheduled to have at Backlash. Instead Kane went over Wyatt that night. Both men have been looking for each other over the past few weeks in what appears to be 'hunter or hunted' backstage segments. Weird stuff but it works. On a more interesting note, Jack Swagger, who had lost to Jinder Mahal the night before.... Came out on SmackDown to scare off Baron Corbin and cut a promo about joining the roster after his Raw contract expired and stating he'll be a big problem for people on SDLive. On the go home SmackDown Both men faced each other, Jack Swagger won my submission via ankle lock but as we all could see Baron Corbin was not actually tapping, he was scrambling to reach the bottom rope. Corbin done the usual flip out notion of knocking over steel steps and taking the top off the announce table Still awaiting Curt Hawkins. Uninspiring vignettes have been aired, might be alright once he finally gets rolling. Anyone feel James Ellsworth has a place on SmackDown? Or better yet, No Mercy? Here is your official theme: As an aside, share your best/worst moments from previous No Mercy PPV's! Confirmed Matches: The Hype Bros & American Alpha vs The Ascension & The Vaudevillians. Jack Swagger vs Baron Corbin. Nikki Bella vs Carmella. Heath Slater and Rhyno (C) vs The Usos for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Becky Lynch (C) vs Alexa Bliss for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship. Randy Orton vs Bray Wyatt. The Miz (C) vs Dolph Ziggler in a Career vs Title Match for the Intercontinental Championship. If Dolph Ziggler fails to capture the title, he must retire. AJ Styles (C) vs John Cena vs Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship. Christophe
Think they'll save Usos vs Alpha for the ppv, and give Slater and Rhyno something else on the night. Breezango or someone, nice easy comedy act vs comedy act first ppv defence.
Francesc Fabregas
Great to see JamieStevenson back leading these PPV threads, wrestling controls from mindless jobbers. It's a car crash without his skilful approach.
Christophe
Yeah can JamieStevenson just start a new Clash of Champions thread too, current one is dug egg
JamieStevenson
Current CoC is superb. I should probably just do that kind of thread and cut right to the chase!

JamieStevenson
Well I'm glad they've finally made it official. Becky looks magnificent in that picture.
forameus
If they continue the way they booked for Backlash and make a tight, sensible show, they'll be on to another winner. Think we'll get a few great Smackdown only PPVs before everyone runs out of people to feud with. Hopefully by then the roster will be a bit deeper. airdrieman
Shaping up to be a decent PPV. They really nailed it at Backlash and I'm pretty confident they can do the same here as long as they keep it simple. Hopefully AJ wins and gets a long run with the title. Best thing about the show at the moment (with the exception of Heath).

forameus
Shaping up to be another solid effort from Smackdown. Hopefully they continue the good work they did with Backlash.
DA Baracus
With Orton on the poster you'd imagine they'll have him in a match (vs Wyatt surely)?
JamieStevenson
Heading that way.
forameus
They've done that in the past though, putting people that don't feature on the card. R Truth advertised Hell in a Cell a while back for some unknown reason, wasn't mentioned or featured in any way on the show. But in this case, of course Orton is going to be in a match with Wyatt, unless there's shenanigans or injuries between now and then.
Tamdunk
A theory was going round that randy got a concussion from his match with Brock, so that's why he hasn't really been wrestling. don't think it's true cos he's done a couple of things that wwe wouldn't allow if he did have tho
JamieStevenson
New match, new graphics, new official poster & some new videos in the OP for you all to check out.
forameus
The career vs title match makes things very interesting, although surely now you have to think that Ziggler wins. I'd actually push Miz up to the World Title picture to be honest, his work recently deserves it.
JamieStevenson
The spotlight is shining heavily down on The Miz & AJ Styles and they are just running with it, especially Miz. He could definitely be Champion again in 2017 I reckon. Might be crazy for even suggesting it but I think Ziggler wants out again and might actually do it this time. Would they really want to take the belt away from Miz when his momentum keeps getting higher and higher?

Would they really want to take the belt away from Miz when his momentum keeps getting higher and higher? Wouldn't you usually hear whispers of it more though? Retirement angles in WWE are rare, and usually it's with someone you can realistically see retiring. I would've thought if the finish is for Ziggler to lose, we'd have heard a little more. Unless they go full-on shenanigans and have a DQ finish or something. Is it a straight 1-on-1 or are we getting a cage match?
JamieStevenson
1 on 1 for now anyway, unless they change it next week.
