Probation in New York can often include:

Finding employment, no contact with known criminals, staying away from high-crime areas, performing community service, keeping a curfew, paying restitution to your victims, passing drug tests, and attending substance abuse counselling.

Additionally, he would be unable to travel outside New York without specific permission.

Does this preclude him being President again or just make it a bit more challenging?

That’s where it gets interesting, as you can even be President from a jail cell.

This is a State charge, so if elected he can’t pardon himself. It’s most likely he would receive probation, and then it would also be possible the State of New York might be willing to hold the sentence during his term, so as to avoid a number of issues.

As for more challenging…most Republican voters have said they’d vote for him regardless, but some 10-15% have qualms. Add to that more Independent voters who show concerns, and Trump’s hill is noticeably steeper after this decision.

On the bright side, he can't be called up for military service, the irony.

Dodging the draft for Vietnam is one of the few good things Trump has done in his life.

I'm pretty surprised he got found guilty on all counts. I thought at least one Jesus freak or Qanon banger would have made it through the jury selection. Only a handful of supporters outside the courthouse, is his popularity waning or are they too busy polishing their weapons whilst searching Stormy Daniels over the interweb?

Juror #2 apparently gets all their news from Truth Social and Twitter and still wouldn't go to bat for him.

Only juror 1 watches faux news? For both of them to bin Trump shows how cut and dry the case must have been.

Do these charges prevent him from coming to Scotland again?

Potentially, yes. It would mainly depend upon his sentence, with a sentence of over 30 months making it potentially impossible to get a normal UK permission to enter. Now, he’s a rich, white dude with connections, so never say never, but he would also be rejected until the sentence is complete…except that’s potentially all out the window if he’s President.

The truth won’t matter to Trump supporters, but 32 unanimous guilty verdicts shows the evidence was incontrovertible.

There was criticism of Alvin Bragg for bringing the case on the basis that it would be hard to prove but he’s silenced his doubters.

This would be impossible if he gets back into the White House.
