Moving on from a long and sluggish at times SummerSlam, the rosters go their separate ways again as we have No Mercy. This will be a Raw exclusive PPV taking place on Sunday 24th September 2017. This will follow the 1 hour Pre-Show, 3 hour main card format, live on the WWE Network. For ourselves that means Midnight for the Pre-Show and a 1AM start for the main card. This will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. This will also be the 13th No Mercy PPV since its introduction in 1999. Hopefully this goes a lot more smoothly than last year's attempt from the SmackDown brand which had the main event as the opener....

Confirmed Matches:

Apollo Crews vs Elias (Kickoff Match).

Neville (C) vs Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Finn Balor vs Bray Wyatt.

Alexa Bliss (C) vs Sasha Banks vs Bayley vs Nia Jax vs Emma for the WWE Raw Women's Championship.

The Miz (C) vs Jason Jordan for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins (C) vs Cesaro and Sheamus for the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship.

John Cena vs Roman Reigns.

Brock Lesnar (C) vs Braun Strowman for the WWE Universal Championship.

At SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar retained his WWE Universal Championship over Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman. During that match though, Lesnar was man handled by the 'monster among men' Braun Strowman and put through 2 announce tables, resulting in the champion being stretchered away briefly. The following night on Raw, Lesnar (looking incredibly hyped) and Paul Heyman came out to celebrate the big victory. They were interrupted by Braun Strowman who attacked Lesnar and hit 2 Running Powerslams on him. It was announced shortly after that Brock Lesnar will now be defending his title against Braun Strowman at No Mercy.

On the September 4th episode of Raw, Braun Strowman defeated Big Show in a Steel Cage Match. After the match, Strowman sent a message to Lesnar by throwing Big Show through the cage. The following week, Paul Heymen cut his usual hype promo, provoking a fight with Braun Strowman. He came down to the ring, Lesnar hit him with a German suplex but immediately popped back up. Strowman retaliated with a chokeslam and a running powerslam to leave the Universal Champion flat on the mat.

On the go-home episode of Raw, Braun Strowman destroyed Enzo Amore. He also traded barbs with Brock Lesnar in a sit down interview conducted by Michael Cole. Just the usual back and forth ahead of a big PPV match.

Upon John Cena's return from his brief post-WrestleMania hiatus, he was branded as a free agent. He originally appeared on SmackDown Live and defeated Baron Corbin in the opening main card match on the Summerslam PPV. The following night on Raw, Cena switched to Raw and called out Roman Reigns as the reason he was here. Reigns of course came out to confront him but The Miz & Samoa Joe came out to complain about the spotlight always being on those two. This resulted in a tag team match, won by Cena and Reigns.

The following week it was announced before Raw that John Cena would face Roman Reigns at No Mercy and that a contract signing would take place. This was an excellent segment, both men signed the contract after WWE pulled out a rare worked shoot angle. Gallows and Anderson came out afterwards for a match and were defeated by Cena and Reigns after synchronised finishers.

On the September 4th and 11th episodes of Raw, John Cena and Roman Reigns took it in turns to face Jason Jordan. Both men defeated him and taunted each other about how long it took each other to win against a rookie. On the 4th, Reigns tried to start a fight against Cena but the veteran resisted, which prompted Reigns to call him out on not backing up his words. Later in the night, Cena faced Braun Strowman for the first time. Strowman got himself disqualified and proceeded to destroy Cena whilst Reigns watched on the monitor in the back.

On the go-home episode of Raw, Roman Reigns cut a promo trying to further poke at Cena's burial of talent and the hypocrisy. Reigns mentioned Alex Riley and also showed clips of Cena bashing The Rock for being a part timer. Reigns made it clear that at No Mercy John Cena would lose to another Samoan and poked more fun at his movie career.

In one of the highlights of a long SummerSlam, the reunited Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to become the new WWE Raw Tag Team Champions. The following night on Raw, The Hardy Boyz congratulated the new champions and challenged them to a non title match. This was a great match and won by Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. The following week, Cesaro defeated Seth Rollins after a distraction from Sheamus. Afterwards a challenge was put out for Sheamus and Dean Ambrose to face each other, that match was won by Ambrose thanks to Rollins getting involved. Cesaro and Sheamus invoked their rematch clause for No Mercy.

On the September 11th episode of Raw, Cesaro and Sheamus were scheduled to face Gallows and Anderson but that match failed to materialise after a mass brawl broke out at ringside with the Tag Team Champions. Ambrose and Rollins had to find partners for an eight man tag team match for later in the night. They of course found The Hardy Boyz to help them and went on to win the match.

On the go-home episode of Raw, Ambrose and Rollins vs Gallows and Anderson vs Cesaro and Sheamus was booked. Cesaro and Sheamus won a decent match, giving them momentum ahead of their WWE Raw Tag Team Championship rematch at No Mercy.

On the post-SummerSlam Raw, Kurt Angle declared that the WWE Intercontinental Championship would be on the line at No Mercy.  Jeff Hardy won a battle royal to challenge The Miz for the championship on the September 4th episode of Raw. The Miz successfully retained. Weeks go by without any word on the title picture. On the go-home episode of Raw, The Miz took it upon himself to call out Raw General Manager Kurt Angle and criticise him for not booking the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam and not having anything planned for No Mercy. Kurt Angle booked a fatal 4 way match to determine the number one contender. The Miz suggested Angle was a poor father, which prompted Jason Jordan to come down to defend him. Jordan suggested The Miztourage be added into the match to make it a Six Pack Challenge. This was accepted and Jason Jordan won the match and will face The Miz at No Mercy.

Sasha Banks defeated Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam to once again become the WWE Raw Women's Champion. The following night on Raw, Alexa Bliss invoked her rematch clause for the following week. Alexa Bliss won back the championship that night and as she was celebrating, she was joined by Nia Jax. Nia congratulated her on the victory, got Alexa up on her shoulders for a mini victory lap in the ring. Only for Nia to then fall back and turn on her, thus making clear her intentions to come after the title.

On the September 4th episode of Raw, Sasha Banks invoked her rematch clause for No Mercy. Nia Jax and Emma went to see Kurt Angle about also getting a title shot. Kurt proposed to them that if they can beat Banks and Bliss in a tag team match, that they would be added in to the match at No Mercy. Nia Jax and Emma went on to win the match and be instated into the match, making it a fatal 4 way.

On the go-home episode of Raw, Nia Jax faced Alexa Bliss in a non-title match. Alexa tried to leave the ring, but was stopped by Sasha. Nia went on to defeat Alexa. Post-match, Sasha, Alexa, and the returning Bayley attacked Nia. Later that night, Bayley was added to the championship match, making it a fatal five-way match at No Mercy.

At SummerSlam, Finn Balor as the Demon King defeated Bray Wyatt. On the August 28th episode of Raw, a classic Bray Wyatt distraction caused Finn Balor to be eliminated from a battle royal that was to determine who faced The Miz for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. The following week, Finn Balor came out to address Wyatt's interference and was then interrupted by the man himself. Wyatt claimed that the Demon King defeated him at SummerSlam, not Finn Balor.... He challenged the real Finn Balor to a match at No Mercy, which of course Balor accepted.

On the September 11th episode of Raw, Bray Wyatt defeated Goldust and tried to wipe off his face paint afterwards but was stopped by Balor. The following week on the go-home episode of Raw, Goldust requested a rematch against Wyatt, as Dustin Rhodes. The match was granted but he was ultimately unsuccessful. Balor appeared on the TitanTron post-match and said some nonsense about demons etc.

Neville defeated Akira Tozawa at SummerSlam to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion again. On the following 205 Live episode, they had a rematch and Neville retained. After the match, Enzo Amore made his 205 Live debut, confirming his move to the Cruiserweight division and immediately confronted Neville.

On the September 4th episode of Raw, Enzo Amore, Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik defeated Drew Gulak, Noam Dar and Tony Nese in a six man tag team match. In the locker room after the match, Neville caught up with the winning team to let them know they'd be involved in a fatal 5 way elimination match to determine who'd be facing the champion at No Mercy. That match also included Brian Kendrick and Tony Nese and took place the following night on 205 Live. Enzo played possum for a large chunk of the match whilst Cedric Alexander eliminated every other competitor. Enzo then snuck up on him and won the match to become the number one contender.

On the go-home episode of Raw, Braun Strowman attacked and destroyed Enzo Amore. Neville took full advantage of this and hit him with Red Arrow. The following night on 205 Live, Neville and Enzo had a face-to-face confrontation, which in the end resulted in Enzo hitting the WWE Cruiserweight Champion with a vicious low blow ahead of their No Mercy match.

No Mercy 2017 retains the same official theme from last year, No Mercy by KIT.

Didn't they do that because there was something else on other networks that would have decimated their viewing figures?  Presidential debate or something?  Scotty's right though - didn't mind them scheduling like that, but Miz and Ziggler should have gone on last instead.  Great match from what I remember.

Yes it was a great match. I don't think you should ever have the main match on first no matter what it's up against. Ruins the structure of a show and isn't good to look back on. I can't imagine being at a show and being served up a Naomi match followed by Wyatt/Orton to close.

Buzzing for Brock in the main event again though. I don't think Strowman will win it but just like Joe he'll get so close.

Is that not a bit of a come down for reigns ie intercontinental match.
Think he is really a victim of his own success re. Undertaker.
I mean he could be an incredibly likeable guy but people don't forget

Very surprised they're pulling the trigger already, that should be headlining Survivor Series. They have zero patience these days.

I'd love to complain about another multi-woman match but Emma is in it, so I just can't.

SummerSlam rematches: Finn Balor vs Bray Wyatt. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins (C) vs Cesaro and Sheamus.

I see Apollo Crews vs Elias was announced as the Kickoff Match.

Quick question Jamie. I see the cruiserweight belt match is between Finn and Bray. Does there not have to be weight stipulations for cruiserweight as Wyatt is most certainly not.?

Edit. Please ignore, misread card
