Burnie_man
Heading down to Australia in February and Qatar Airways from Edinburgh is the airline of choice this time rather than traipsing through to Glagsow for Emirates. We'll factor in 36 hours in Doha which works out at two nights hotel (very late arrival first night), full day next day then 20.15 flight the following day. The full day will be a Friday. Any must sees, and anything best avoided? Should be there when the Qatar Stars League is playing (seems Thur/Fri night is the popular ko times) and the wife is up for that, but the rest of the time? Online guides say the Corniche is worthy of a stroll but there's hee haw there apart from the views. Museum of Islamic Art was mentioned, then it kinda fizzles out........ Eednud
This might give you some ideas but more about food. http://www.timeoutdoha.com. If you want a few beers the. Champions Bar at the Marriott City Centre is good spot with a long happy hour from 5 to 7 and sometimes beyond. Smoking permitted though. Some of the architecture is amazing to look at, especially at night. Villaggio Mall and other malls your wife will probably enjoy and the Harbour Fish Market if you want to try some local seafood. This might have moved though as think a new market is being/was built.

If your full day is a Friday, check in advance opening hours. Friday, of course, being the Islamic version of Sunday on Benbecula.
