Easy teaser for you guys today.  In 2007 we beat Livingston United 3-0 in a League Cup at Newtown.  Who scored a hat-trick?

Jon Mitchell?

No John, afraid not.  It was in fact Scott Brown

In 2017, a first ever visit was made to play Kennoway Star Hearts.  The BU's had lost four of the first five and confidence was low.  Murray Carstairs made his debut after signing on loan from Kelty.  The BU's came out and won as convincingly as the 6-0 score suggests.  Chris Donnelly led the way with a double, the other goals coming from Alan Comrie, Fraser Keast, Jack Wilson & Callum Scott.

The team was: Murphy, Jacobs, Gibb, Carstairs, Campbell, Comrie (Snowdon), Wilson, Gemmell, Keast (Cropley), Donnelly, Scott (McGregor)

In 1968 the BU's carried on their unbeaten start to the season by thrashing New Blackburn Athletic by 7-1.  This was despite playing full-back Tony McCandless in goal.  His first act was to pick the ball out of the net in the first minute.  After that the BU's ran amok, with both Ian Lourie & John Bernard hitting hat-tricks, Joe McMeechan getting the other.

The team was: McCandless, Simpson, Makarus, McMeechan, McQueen, Donnelly, Bernard, Nisbet, Lourie, Sneddon, Watson

Sorry, try again.

Don't want to decry his reputation for restrained professionalism but I will have a wild guess it was Will Snowdon.

Maybe I didn't word it right.  It was a former BU player on the opposition side.

Sloan & Hissy both got doubles.

Bingo!

Strange memory because I can’t really remember anything about the game other than Jay being a wee hot tattie and a red-card waiting to happen all game. Sticks in my mind because the BU faithful were winding him up all game and it got to him. He was a seething mess at the ‘Waaaay!’ from BU fans when he got sent off.

Sept 1st

This day in 1945 is memorable for several reasons.  It was the very first Junior Cup tie played and resulted in their very first win that season, 2-1 over Preston Athletic.  Due to an earlier match at Newtown, the game started at 6.30pm, the latest ever cup tie in Bo'ness at that time.  Jimmy Smart equalied with a penalty late in the first half, before the winner was struck by John Pow.

The team was: Milne, Monaghan, Reilly, Black, Smart, Curran, Lowry, Pow, J Blair, Gibb, O'Hagan

I am flying out in the early hours of Monday morning to Malta for 10 days but fear not faithful followers, as Scuzz will be posting on here as well as on the clubs official feeds.

I have prepared some crackers for him and the one tomorrow will be most interesting.
