Freedom Farter
What I find funny about those approval ratings is that throughout AMLO's presidency, US neoconservatives pumped out constant shite like this: AMLO was an "autocrat" despite having huge public backing. He was "destroying democracy" despite only standing for a single term. The "destroying the law" nonsense is also ironic. USA supported the lawfare campaign in Brazil which brought down Dilma Roussef's Workers Party and saw Lula jailed. Lula had ended his second term in 2009 with AMLO-level approval ratings, incidentally. His conviction was later overturned as it was found the judge had been corrupt. A judge who had since taken a position in Jair Bolsonaro's cabinet. Little angers the US establishment more than Latin Americans trying to lift themselves out of poverty. If Latin Americans elect a government which helps them to that end, well that's not democracy any longer, we get told. Democracy is only when markets are kept open like veins for US capitalists to drain all the blood from. AMLO nationalised Mexico's lithium reserves so that's not democracy, even though Mexicans voted for it. His successor is going to be Claudia Sheinbaum, a stick on to win the upcoming election. I imagine it'll be harder for her. The forces that assbled to oppose AMLO (domestically in Mexico) are now more organised and determined than ever. I'm hoping it doesn't follow what happened in Brazil when Dilma Roussef followed on from Lula and there was effectively a coup against her by the Brazilian elite.

Anne Applebaum is one of the worst people that’s ever lived.
Freedom Farter
The first Jewish woman to become a North American president is pro-Palrestinian. Some US zionists struggling to cope with that.

MazzyStar
The Economist is a total parody of an outlet These reforms will have a disastrous effect on the lives of hundreds of thousands of Argentinians but the main focus for The Economist is what the markets think. Freedom Farter
When Georgia was invaded by Russia in 2008, it should be recognised that came at a time when Georgia was itself occupying Iraq. Georgia had the third largest presence in Iraq after USA and UK. Then following the 2008 invasion by Russia, Georgia began sending troops to occupy Afghanistan until they again had the third largest presence there, behind only USA and Germany. The invasion and occupation of their nations saw many Iraqis and Afghans killed or displaced. Georgia showed a very strong commitment to this. For a nation of only 3.7M to end up with the third largest troop contingent in both cases was remarkable. Nearly all were in combat roles on behalf of the occupation not UN peacekeeping roles. Mostly their madcap former president Saakashvili can be blamed but Georgian society is due self-reflection over this which hasn't yet been forthcoming. We saw Ukraine increasingly step back from its support of Nato imperialism following its 2004 revolution. Georgia did the opposite, increasingly stepping up its support following its 2003 revolution. Georgia's story differs to Ukraine's in very significant ways. Edited June 30 by Freedom Farter
vikingTON
Given Ukraine's recent voting record at the UN and ever-centralising, government solely by guy in a khaki T shirt trajectory, they'll be getting wired into Gaza, Iran or anywhere else the Coalition of the Willing requests in the near future. Kinda like South Korea's mental role as the wee guy in the Vietnam War. -
