CaspianChris
FRIENDLY 5 - 10/07/22 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 5 TRANENT 1 A good big win for Broughty who were deserved winners on the day but Tranent did play some nice stuff with some good dangerous chances made. There was some fine finishing amongst the goals and the midfield looked neat and tidy with the passing patterns. Defensively it was decent although Tranent was tricky opposition to deal with. Despite the scoreline it was a useful run out against a decent Tranent side. The next friendly is at home to Jeanfield Swifts.
CaspianChris
FRIENDLY 6 - 16/07/22 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 4 JEANFIELD SWIFTS 2 In the end a very entertaining win for Broughty in a very open and competitive affair that saw both sides create plenty of chances. Ultimately it was the home side that had the better quality chances and finishing on show to pick up a very good win. This was a very useful 90 minutes against a very good Jeanfield side. Next up is a visit from English side Blyth Spartans at Whitton Park.

The penultimate friendly sees a visit of English side Blyth Spartans to Whitton Park. Broughty put in an excellent performance dominating possession and chances and a goal in each half earned a deserved victory. Blyth had several decent chances and will feel they should have better at least once. The final friendly us at Whitton Park against EoS Premier Divusion side Crossgates.

CaspianChris
FRIENDLY 8 - 23/07/22 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 0 CROSSGATES 0 The final friendly ahead of the season kicking off is a drab affair with clears scoring chances few and far between in a display of lacklustre finishing by the two sides. Broughty were dominant in possession and number of chances fashioned but the quality was generally poor and the few saves needed by the Crossgates keeper was routine and not troublesome. Crossgates themselves were limited to few chances and again the couple on target was not overly testing for the keeper to deal with. Well now for the seasons big kickoff next week as the Highland League campaign gets underway with a trip north to Clachnacluddin.

CaspianChris
HIGHLAND LEAGUE GAME 1 - 30/07/22 CLACHNACLUDDIN 0 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 4 Life in the Highland League began in superb fashion for newly promoted Broughty with this stunning win at Clach. This was a very dominant and powerful performance that overwhelmed the home side, with numerous chances created and massive possession enjoyed. A one goal lead at ht does not begin to describe how one-sided the first half was and the goals would eventually come in the second half albeit Clach were reduced to 10 men first. However the red cars really didn't affect things given was already one way traffic the only difference being was that Broughty ruthlessly killed the game off. Next week is the first Highland League game at Whitton Park where Turriff United are visitors.

CaspianChris
TRANSFER NEWS Broughty can confirm the departure of Ryan Dow on a free transfer to Midlands League side Downfield. Dow never really broke into the team and was mostly off the bench and the move to a fresh start is in the best interest of both player and club. CaspianChris
HIGHLAND LEAGUE GAME 2 - 06/08/22 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 2 TURRIFF UNITED 0 Another very comfortable win in the first Highland League game to be played at Whitton Park. Although this was not as big a scoreline as the opening league game but in truth it should have been as Broughty created numerous excellent chances but only scored the two. Defensively this was another solid performance with only a limited number of chances being created by Turriff and even fewer being on target which was pleasing. Next week brings another home game but one that is expected to be a far tougher test as Inverurie Loco Works are visitors to Broughty.

CaspianChris
HIGHLAND LEAGUE GAME 3 - 13/08/22 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 0 INVERURIE LOCO WORKS 0 A goalless draw see the first dropped leaguenpoints of the league season in a day of frustration for Broughty. The hosts were very much on control through out and despite creating a number of chances including some very good ones that were well saved there was to be no breakthrough goal. Inverurie had some chances but again they could not find the quality to find away past the keeper but they would be very much the happier to head home with a point. Next up during the week is the visit of FORMARTINE UNITED to Whitton Park.

CaspianChris
HIGHLAND LEAGUE GAME 4 - 17/08/22 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 4 FORMATINE UNITED 0 A fantastic performance and more importantly goal scoring display against Formatine United after the goalless weekend draw. From early on Broughty took a strong grip of possession and made good use of this creating numerous chances through out with some wasteful finishing and some very decent goalkeeping keeping the score to 4. The visitors looked dangerous on the break and with Broughty being so forward going they did find that space to launch several counterattacks and keeper Sandersson had a number of good saves to make. However for all that Broughty were very much the stronger side and ran out comfortable winners in the end. The weekend sees Broughty on the road with the trip to Forres Mechanics.

CaspianChris
HIGHLAND LEAGUE GAME 5 - 20/08/22 FORRES MECHANICS 3 BROUGHTY ATHLETIC 0 This was a very disappointing day for the Broughty who for long spells in fact until 2 down really struggle to get to grips with a very impressive Forres side. The host were very dangerous and the attacking threat cut the visitors defense open on numerous occasions and the score 3 very good goals and indeed this was lucky not to be double that or worse. Broughty only started to really have ago after going two behind to the 10 men after really only creating the sporadic chance till then. Despite eventually putting the hosts under intense pressure there wax to be no way back into the game and indeed 3rd was conceded to a deadly Forres counter attack. Next week sees a free weekend and a friendly will be arranged with details to be announced soon.
