Elk's QB Tre Ford broke the record for single game rushing yards by a Canadian QB putting up 135yds from 11 carries beating the previous 1964 record of 134yds set by CFL legend Russ Jackson. The Elks-Stamps game has courted controversy as it was held in air quality conditions that measured 8 & 10 which are classed as unsafe & high risk & not suitable for rigorous outdoor activity. The readings are the result of ongoing wildfires. Following a Thursday meeting between the CFLPA & CFL it's been agreed to bring in another party in addition to current partner Environment and Climate Change Canada to provide air quality measurements in real time with games being halted if readings hit seven or higher during the course of a game. Both the oldest pro football team in North America & also the oldest team still using it's original moniker in any sport across North America. GNU_Linux Posted November 3, 2023 Author Share Posted November 3, 2023 With their 16th win of the season the Argos tied the '89 Elks for the winningest season in the CFL history. The 16-2 record also surpasses the team's previous best seasons of 15-3 set in '96 & '97 which is a good omen as the Argos won the Grey Cup in those two seasons. As a further good omen the two losses came with backup QB Cameron Dukes playing one of which came when the team had already secured the division with a rotated squad. The team also set a new league record by securing a post-season spot with six games to spare.
