I don't know if people are getting mixed up with the 80k proposal for the new national non-league cup that was floated, and never went anywhere.

From back in May, constitution not updated on website so don't know if it went through and whether it's actually prize money or a guarantee...

This season’s prize for the winners sits at £12,000. But under a proposal put to member clubs that will almost double for next year’s competition which could see one of the biggest entries with all clubs from tier 5 downwards invited to apply.

An SJFA spokesman said: “Next season we are proposing no fees from our member clubs for the fourth year running and a once only offer to any clubs outwith Junior membership to give them free entry to participate in our great tournament as we believe they will see a benefit in it going forward.

"We believe this is an attractive proposition for a truly national trophy."

The proposed change to the prize pot will also see the runner-up banking £10,000, losing semi-finalists £5000, losing quarter finalists £1000 and £500 to each of the teams knocked out in the last 16 plus £100 for those going out in the last 32.

As you say depends on prize money or guarantees. I'm leaning more to guarantees since that's been the standard and it would otherwise beg the question where the money's coming from? No sponsor, no membership fees for the last few years going by that article. Forked out the £400 per club that completed fixtures last season.

It's no secret and anyone who knows me is well aware that I was 100% opposed to this move, not least because of what happened over 2019-20 and 2021-22.

It's important to emphasise though that we've not re-joined the Juniors, we're only in the competition as guests, purely to try to win the damn thing, and snaffle the top prize money!

Your players rioted on the pitch.

You couldn't expect not to be severely punished.

What happened here? Must’ve missed this?
