If you want to go by those rankings.

Edinburgh Uni 2420pts

Lowest points tally of a EoS Premier team 2451

And would have them bottom half of EoS First.

I don't think anyone would have them falling like a stone like VoL or Hawick. Pre-LL Edinburgh Uni could be a decent EoS Premier by the standard of the time. But that basically puts them in a modern day EoS First Division team. That might have a good season and end up in the EoS Premier or a bad one and end up in the Second.

I do think Edinburgh Uni (and Gretna) have had a lower standard than most EOS Premier teams, and when Edinburgh Uni get relegated, they will once again be a hot candidate for relegation.

You have to account for the fact 5 teams have come up and 2 right through the Lowland League from the EOS though.

Yes, the top teams from the old East Juniors were really good, ambitious and well supported teams.

Now that the best of those have come up, Lowland League east teams like Gala FR, East Stirlingshire, Cowdenbeath, CSS, Berwick Rangers, can match or even be better than the remaining EOS Premier teams.

Not saying that future EOS Premier champions can’t be successful in the Lowland League (that would be a stupid thing to say). I’m sure the opposite is true, that teams like Musselburgh or Dunbar can come up in future years and do well.

I think there’s still Sauchie, Musselburgh, Jeanfield, Dunbar, Whitburn and Armadale to come (latter two have connected with the community and we’re as big as all the others 20 years ago).

I agree on Berwick but I think the rest will fall to a lower tier in the next decade.

Don't think the clubs mentioned are likely to stack up against what the top half of the WoS premier has to offer over the next 5 years or so assuming of course that the WoS clubs actually want to go for it, but it will be interesting to see how Camelon do next season now they have been taken over by Syngenta and there might be some Tranent style financial doping going on there.

To be fair Longtime there are lot of attitudes like similar to yours about west teams and I’m kinda similar in your thinking of this as well and understandably so due to the past few years but there are a few who want to win promotion and when they do, it will be a domino effect as the ones who want to stay will be left with teams who are weaker so I could see their attitudes changing.

The teams that I believe who want to go up are Pollok, Darvel, Clydebank, Kilwinning, Irvine Meadow and the rest unsure of, but that’s not me staying the others done wanna go up, I’m just unsure.

I ain’t going to say that any team relegated this season and beyond from the Lowland into the EOSFL will automatically be relegated from the premier league, some will find that is their level, some might drop lower,

Beith would've gave a good account in the play off last season surely ?

Just a pity some West clubs are behind the East for licensing at the minute.

I think Beith would have done well also.  The West clubs are behind the East as the WOSFL is a new association and everyone in the West for past couple years have been catching up but now they have a good selection of teams who have their SFA license so expect more to follow or look into the potential of gaining their license and then hopefully earn promotion to the Lowland or beyond.

Think Beith would have done well in Playoff and definitely good enough to win it but they don’t have a license so hopefully they will have a license soon

The WOS clearly has stronger teams than the EOS at the moment, given that the EOS has lost Kelty, Bonnyrigg, Bo'ness, Tranent and Linlithgow to the LL in recent years.  However, take the equivalent top 5 out the WOS (Beith, Auchinleck, Darvel, Clydebank and Pollok) and the gap doesn't look so big.

Serious questions whether the Ayrshire village teams really want to join the LL.

Obvious the village teams don't want to know the LL.

I don’t think anyone cares to be fair. The pyramid although slow has been functioning well without any West teams coming up and it will continue to do so but once the West teams start getting their act together I can see a big impact and the Lowland and SPFL2 changing.

The teams that want to go further from the West won’t be too bothered either if any Ayrshire teams want to stay where they are as I’m sure the West teams who are promoted will do well

Problem is it makes the pyramid and Wosfl pointless if the Ayrshire villages strangle the ambitious from moving up.

Might qs well be the West Juniors cul de sac/rabbit hole.

Feel sorry for the likes of Clydebank and Pollok.

If it's still the case there's only one promotion place to the Lowland League after this season, then it's not the old Junior mentality strangling the pyramid.

Not really. If Pollok and Clydebank want to move up and are good enough then I’m sure they will and don’t think any of the two of them will care about the ones who want to stay.

The pyramid is certainly not pointless, the leagues are changing for the better and the lower standard Spfl teams and low standard lowland league teams are all being relegated so the landscape is changing.

The process is slow at the bottle necks of the SPFL2 and Lowland but in 5 / 10 years time both leagues will look very, very different

It will be interesting to see how Edinburgh University do in their early matches. They traditionally struggle before the University term starts and they are unable to sign any non-Scottish new students until the window opens in January. That means that they often finish more strongly than they start. Another factor will be their new Manager. They've made a great choice in Sean. He will have his work cut out but a final position around 10th - 12th is not unrealistic.

The window doesn’t apply in the LL.

Sorry - it does for international transfers. Wish you were right but we cannot get international clearance for amateur players outside the windows.

My bad we haven't had any international transfers for a while.
