Molotov Posted July 22, 2023 Share Posted July 22, 2023 I’ve witnessed some pitch invasions down the years, but this is on a whole new level. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/dunston-gateshead-fc-game-abandoned-27373389 The game was soon abandoned, with Dunston UTC stating on Twitter: "Tonight’s match has been abandoned due to an incident at half-time." Gateshead FC also released a similar statement on Twitter, saying: "Due to an incident on the pitch occurring shortly after half time, tonight's match has been abandoned by the referee." It was half-time at the UTS Stadium with Gateshead and Dunston drawing 1-1. A fan at the match told ChronicleLive: "It was half-time and the players were still on the pitch just doing some warm-ups when a silver car and a hearse came onto the pitch and started doing doughnuts. "Two men jumped out of the hearse and people were saying they were armed. They then got into the silver car and they sped off. "It was horrible to see. There were loads of kids in tears. Someone ran onto the pitch wearing a Borat thong and a Jedward mask during a Scottish Cup game between Ayr and Hibernian in 2010/11. Several men threw leaflets making accusations against several men involved with Dunston FC before fleeing in a silver car leaving the hearse abandoned on the pitch.
