That's two points, for the first, if there were several devils, then yes it would be lower case as the phrase is specifically about the actual Devil within Christianity then it's capitalised.  Same for the Oxford dictionary entry for god, it is also lower case, but if you were referring to the monotheistic God it would be capitalised.

As for the second, my apologies, I actually thought your comment was from Vincent who has been digging quite the hole here. Hence why I thought it was odd they were introducing that literary device at this point.

It's called playing devil's advocate.

Ifs and buts as to whether Deas and Stewart perform to the standard of Mayo and Armstrong.

Yes, but every scenario thought up is around Kilmarnock failing and Hibs not.

It's more like he fails at Hibs than Kilmarnock, all for a slightly larger budget and worse club.

Repeating your post doesn't make it more "correct". See, we can all do this.. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/devil?q=Devil

Now, check out the second entry, the Devil.

Anyway, it's all by the by, as I said I thought your post was made by Vincent, not you, and for that I've already apologised.

I'm afraid I don't think of Kilmarnock FC on a spiritual level and was in fact using the phrase devil's advocate to express exactly what is defined in the link I sent you.

devil’s advocate

 noun

/ˌdevlz ˈædvəkət/

/ˌdevlz ˈædvəkət/
  1. a person who expresses an opinion that they do not really hold in order to encourage a discussion about a subject

Ah, yes, a screenshot with no source, always the best way to solve this, but I do like the idea you are denying the existence of proper nouns. If anything it at least has taken away from people desperately trying to claim that McInnes is doomed if he stays at Killie.

The screenshot is literally from the link above. I've repeated it here for you: https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/english/devil-s-advocate?q=devil's+advocate

Pure curiosity, I wondered how many managers, not including caretakers, have joined each club since 2000. Fascinating stuff- (and probably full of errors, I did this very quickly but you get the jist)

Hearts - 21 (absolutely insane)

Livi - 19 (shambles)

Hibs - 16 (far too many)

Dundee - 15 (sadistic)

Rangers -13 (clear basket case)

Motherwell - 13 (the correct amount)

Ross County - 13 (too few)

Killie - 13 (too loyal to underperformance)

St Mirren - 12 (needs more sackings imo)

St Johnstone - 9 (embracing mediocrity)

Aberdeen - 9 (clearly resigned to apathy)

Celtic - 9 (smelly and unhealthy)

I guess proper noun's don't exist in your world then. Fair enough, have it your way.

I'm just going with the Oxford Dictionary rather than some boy off a forum.

It's nouns, by the way.

I know, I am the worst for stray apostrophes, you posted before I had a chance to edit it. I'm worse with possessive its. I'm forever throwing in apostrophes there too!

As for this debate, Oxford Dictionary contradicts itself, if you care to check out the entry for Devil you will the very first entry it capitalises the word, as it's a proper noun. As the Devil is specifically related to the monotheistic branch, the phrase should be capitalised.

Personally I think we should switch it to "Derek's advocate" as that has to have a capitalised D yet a lower case 'a'.

It has already been mentioned by sources close to the club that they will be appointing a head coach, not a manager, so that immediately rules out the likes of McInnes and Robinson.

The most likely appointment is a "Black Knights" yes-man who will happily all the Bournemouth project players who join up in the summer regardless of whether they are good enough or ready enough. The other option is a young up-and-comer who they think might be a potential future Bournemouth manager.

What’s the relevance of a shit keanu reeves film here?

I hope this opens up the debate as to who has been the best Devil on film..

..for me it's Peter Stormare, in Constantine, which oddly enough is also a Keanu Reeves film.

Edit: and probably one of the only decent Shia laBeouf performances.

Criticism of the Edinburgh clubs and Aberdeen is entirely valid given recent experiences.

It's not the 50s/60s any more, but the complexion is changing quickly. We appear to be moving into a new era where the finances of those three clubs are starting to far outstrip the rest.

With the right structure and managerial appointment(s), you can achieve sustained "success" with clubs at that level. You can see it at Hearts – three consecutive top four finishes (twice finishing third), regular semi-final/final appearances in the cups and narrowing the gap on Celtic and Rangers by virtue of winning more regularly against the rest, as well as a couple of wins against Celtic.

You're relying on those three clubs not to make awful decisions (managerial appointments, player recruitment, structure), and it might be that Hibs are one to avoid for a manager like McInnes right now, but the potential is certainly there for consistent top six finishes at Hearts/Hibs/Aberdeen. Certainly more than at a club like Kilmarnock IF they get it right.

Impressive.

Phenomenal.

To be fair, not seen the film.

Does her son direct it?
