I've got a situation. The whole premise of b teams is wrong. Anything that flows from that is wrong.

Ah well, you'll just need to suck it up. It's not worth fretting over.

but some are getting their knickers in a twist about it.  There's an argument that perhaps more than one should be allowed to aid player development but let's not open that can of worms.

Actually that's kind of the point. People have a problem with B teams in general and the chipping away at some of the restrictions placed on them.

You've already sat in and given up the ghost of "Don't have a problem with B teams as long as they start at the bottom."

Hearts have two in that age range, one is on loan at Ayr United, the other on loan at East Fife.

2 senior goalkeepers,

2 out on loan for development

2 available youth players for B team.

And still another signing?  That's talent hording, no doubt.

I don't, I have a passive resistance policy. I actually just realised that Tuesday, Shotts v Cowdenbeath was the first time I've seen a 'LL team since the b teams entered. I won't go to any 'LL ground while b teams play in the division.

Craig Gordon, Zander Clark, Ryan Fulton

Harry Stone, Liam McFarlane

Then the two u18s.

Are what most sites seems to have as their GKs. With a former B team player Jack McConnell released over the summer.

Who is chipping at restrictions?  B teams are allowed one over age player, they were also allowed that last seasos, no idea about the previous two.

I don't have a problem with B teams in the pyramid as long as they start at the bottom.

It may not have occured to you that in the case of the LL, that ship has long since sailed and there it no point repeatedly going over the past. It's not going to change for what is already there, and for the next two/three years at least. I did'nt agree with it at the time and still don't, but you already know that.

Seems utterly futile but your choice I guess, if it makes you feel happy.

The point is Hearts have two keepers at 16, I think one just turned 16.  Reading the reports, MacDonald will be doing some coaching as well as playing. It's a one season arrangement and presumably one of these keepers will take the gloves next season.   It's a specialist position and I can see why you wouldn't just drop them in the deep end.

One of the problems with B teams is, unlike the old reserve league, you rarely play alongside experienced players. This might help the defenders in their development as well I guess.

You sometimes learn more by getting thrown in at the deep end probably why St Johnstone loaned 17 year old Craig Hepburn to us last season/

Here's a one year deal, anything further has to be agreed on an annual basis.  Can we get a multi-year deal where the B teams are the ones that can decide if it continues.

Here's the fixture list. Can we cancel games for international/European fixtures. Pretty much whenever we want?

The oveage element in the first season were an u21 GK & outfielder.

And if the ship had sailed on the Lowland League the B teams wouldn't have come up with their take it or leave it multi-year deal.

Absolutely, maybe these kids aren't quite at that level? dunno. Having looked, one isn't even 16 year old yet so can't play LL anyway.

I'm talking player restrictions, not the stuff that's been done to death.

The over age element was there last season. No idea if it was there the previous two though.

A decent game at Ainslie Park tonight. The final scoreline - Hearts B 4 - 1 East Stirlingshire - is very harsh on The Shire with two late goals padding the score from what was a close game.

Both teams played a high line but that meant through balls tended to bounce on through to the keepers. Hearts B had a fair bit of early pressure but Shire broke away to score an excellent goal after great work by the winger. I thought his cross might have resulted in an OG but Greig Spence was credited (man of many clubs, several of them Alloa 😀). Hearts came back with an equaliser after Finlay Pollock played a bit of "keepie uppy" then blasting in a cross Campbell couldn't avoid.

Great to see Morgaro Gomis again and he was excellent BUT after rounding Jamie MacDonald could only hit the side net. He just doesn't score many goals...  Shire had a couple of good chances on the break to equalise after Callum Sandilands scored an excellent goal - a very close offside call went Hearts way. Then Pollock "scored" but Wilson was flagged off in another close call. The game didn't peter out as Mac Ross made it 3 - 1 before a mazy run and finish from Dom Plank just beat the final whistle.

Pollock, James Wilson & Macauley Tait all played by choice, rather than getting 10-15 mins in the 1st team game tomorrow at Fleetwood (apparently Naismith gave them the option). For Pollock in particular this was great to see after all his injury issues in the last couple of years. A clear MoM performance and he seems to have bulked up a bit but it hasn't diluted his pace..

A crowd of circa 300 present and Jamie MacDonald's shouts to his defenders to sort their positioning was only beaten for noise by the Shire manager 😀.

Good summary and yes, scoreline was harsh on ES who looked a lot more solid than last season.  On that performance I don't think they'll be worrying the bottom places. Gomis is 39 and fit as a fiddle, good learning for the younger players in the ES team.

Yes, Gomis is like a manager on the park. The Shire were very well organised and have threats up front so I'd expect them to be nearer the top end of the table.

Given that the reserve keeper is the least likely player to be used this is probably the least distorting use of the overage player option imaginable

Really enjoyed the match.

Shire scored totally against the run of play, and it could have been about 7-3 at the end, if we are honest.

Final goal was the best we saw this week: a fantastic run and finish!

Oh, and we caught the bus and train now worries...loved the day in Edinburgh!
