pandarilla
She discovered that when she actually had to give an idea of her policy aims, of which she had none, she came across as unconfident, poorly briefed and superficial. She has nipped it in the bud now to try to salvage her "tells it like it is, no nonsense, doesn't suffer fools" image among centrist journalists.I see her as a bit of a John Prescott figure. She connects well with people because she is quite genuine in her style - she's not trying to be 'politician-like'. If starmer or thornberry (wait, that didn't sound right...) wins then they should think about bringing her on board in that kind of role. Is the deputy up for election as well? She'd make a reasonable deputy leader I reckon. As long as the leader has gravitas (and therefore anyone but nandy, who I have grown to despise).

Detournement
As for the poll itself since Jez didn't do anything bad like support Nigeria in the Biafran War or deregulate the banks then it's not surprising people have a positive view of him.

She’s a pure media invention that withered on the vine nearly as embarrassingly as Chuka Umunna. I did enjoy her comedy heel performance throughout the leadership run, however.

If they ever create the post of “Shadow spokesperson for talking pish” then I would agree; otherwise no. More seriously, I can’t understand why an educated person like yourself can buy into her schtik. If you want a blunt, outspoken non-Metropolitan figure I imagine there would be many more in the PLP who could do a better job than Phillips.
pandarilla
Angela Rayner is going to win the deputy leadership. You're of course entitled to your view of Phillips, all I see is someone bought and paid for by Murdoch and assorted other ghouls. What's the connection with Murdoch?Yes she's been a bit of a media darling but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I like the way she comes across (generally) - it's more the detail and policy I think she's light on. I don't get the impression she's ideological. My missus, who has no interest in politics whatsoever, thought she came across the best (when paying attention to the hustings that was on the telly on Saturday morning).

NotThePars
Would never support Nandy as leader in a million years but it’s been funny to watch her openly dunking on Piers Morgan and Nick Robinson within an hour of each other.
BerwickMad
Funny seeing the followers of Corbyn, Lansman and Tony Benn all of a sudden getting worked up about a ‘millionaire male knight’. Cretins like Slavery weren’t asking Corbyn to stand aside for Cooper or Kendall in 2015, but now of course ITS TIME COMRADES.

It's just really amusing to watch brain dead liberals that weaponised a poor understanding of identity politics for the past 4 years suddenly volte-facing when the socialist candidate is a woman from a working-class background.

That might be the most depressing thing I've read on here.
