Davis Love III
Some good matches in the draw. I like the look of Webster v Part, Walsh v Chisnall and of course the battle of the taches in Jenkins and Sexy Steve Beaton! I'll have a Prediction League up for the World Matchplay. The UK Open format made it pretty impossible to run a logical League, so the Matchplay League will be up soon! Again, my apoligies to those that took part, the Premier League Prediction League. It got a little bit messy in terms of organisation towards the end. Due to problems with health and time, I wasn't able to focus on it as much as I would have liked. But thankfully those problems have cleared up, so the Matchplay League should go smoothly! Edited June 19, 2011 by Davis Love III
The Naitch
Aye, couple of really good matches in that first round draw. Ando, in the meantime, has done the double by winning today's Players' Championship... he beat Andy Smith 6-3 in the final.
Fraser Fyvie
Nice one DLIII. I'm looking forward to the Matchplay, always a great atmosphere and there could be a few shocks with Taylor/Barney etc no longer dominating. I fancy Scott Rand to beat Wayne Jones, he looks like a top player.
Lambies_Apprentice
Pipe and Rand are really slow players and Jones and King especially aren't in great form. I said Barney could lose to Brown but I reckon he'll scrape by and get done in the next round.

So he's had to work for it! As for Barney, he lost in Round 2 , 6-3 against John Part. SO the struggles for Raymond continue, but then again he was playing one of the form players of the year. John Part sitting second on the Players Championship OOM.

Had Smiffy won that match he'd have been in the matchplay draw, what a way to blow it! Great comeback from Ando, though.
DomDom
Predictions are... Phil Taylor (1, ENG) v Mark Hylton (ENG) Wayne Jones (16, ENG) v Scott Rand (ENG) Wes Newton (8, ENG) v Andy Smith (ENG) Mervyn King (9, ENG) v Justin Pipe (ENG) Simon Whitlock (5, AUS) v Peter Wright (ENG) Ronnie Baxter (12, ENG) v Denis Ovens (ENG) Gary Anderson (4, SCO) v Andy Hamilton (ENG) Colin Lloyd (13, ENG) v John Henderson (SCO) Adrian Lewis (2, ENG) v Kevin Painter (ENG) Vincent van der Voort (15, NED) v Alan Tabern (ENG) Terry Jenkins (7, ENG) v Steve Beaton (ENG) Mark Webster (10, WAL) v John Part (CAN) Raymond van Barneveld (6, NED) v Steve Brown (ENG) Paul Nicholson (11, AUS) v Colin Osborne (ENG) James Wade (3, ENG) v Jamie Caven (ENG) Mark Walsh (14, ENG) v Dave Chisnall (ENG) I can see Chisnall have an easy time of it against a relatively poor Mark Walsh. I think the matches to watch will be BIG VINNY~~~!!! vs. Tabern, Osborne vs. Nicholson, Jenkins vs. Beaton, Baxter vs. Ovens, Part vs. Webster and Rand vs. Jones.

The Naitch
This announcement due tomorrow from the PDC has got the rumour mill going... heard everything from the BBC dropping the World Masters and taking the Players' Championship Finals in its place to Five taking up some of the rights (probably something like the Euros). Suppose we'll find out for sure tomorrow.
DomDom
BBC probably look at the ratings that the BDO gets on there ( which aren't that bad for the WCs ) and think that a PDC tournament can do much better with the right marketing, so that wouldn't surprise me. It'd probably piss off Olly Croft, but that can only be a good thing, right?
Fraser Fyvie
If the BBC do choose the players champs, I can't see the BDO being around for much longer.

They'll still be there squirming in their little corner while theres enough jobbers for Adams to beat every year....
DomDom
Untill the PDC take ACTUAL steps to make it easier for players to come through their system rather than doing stuff that allows Barry Hearn a photo op then the BDO will always be around, because they're the only organisation that actually gives a shit about the players coming through.

The BDO have to "give a shit about the players coming through" because as soon as they are any good players leave for the PDC. Young players can do well in the BDO because they are near enough all that's left in it. -

Like setting up a youth tour? Like offering to stick 1 million quid in youth and county darts? All while the BDO of course plough a lot of time and money into darts. All they care about is their petty little agendas and maroon blazers. Edited June 23, 2011 by Lambies_Apprentice
DomDom
Like setting up a youth tour? Like offering to stick 1 million quid in youth and county darts? Out of curiosity, how much does it cost to take part in the youth tour? And as for offering to stick 1 million quid into youth and county darts, they can still actually do that. Of course, they only offered to do that as a wee sweetener. Their real prize in that respect was buying over the BDO. All while the BDO of course plough a lot of time and money into darts. Plenty of players from this area alone have made it into BDO tournaments. Untill they have the same oppertunities in the PDC, I'll always consider them to be lagging behind the BDO in that respect. The BDO have to "give a shit about the players coming through" because as soon as they are any good players leave for the PDC. Young players can do well in the BDO because they are near enough all that's left in it. Probably, but they'll continue to churn out these players on a regular basis.

The Naitch
Does anyone no the scheulle for Blackpool? Iv got tickets for Friday the 22nd afternoon session and was curious to find out what matches il see! You'll see the first two quarter finals in that session. They'll keep the more 'attractive' quarter final games for the evening session but you'll still see some quality darts.
