meanmistermustard
5 - 0. Surely there is no way back for Lewis now. An absolute annihilation.

Davis Love III
The T19 hitting from MVG is astonishing. Highest in the tournament apparently. Which isn't a surprise. Underlining those credentials in this match.
Davis Love III
Van Gerwen is 15/25 on the doubles, with Lewis at 5/22.

Davis Love III
Is MvG number one in the world after this tournament whether he wins it or not? Nope, he needs to win in order to overtake Taylor, who has been No. 1 since 2008.

meanmistermustard
Incredible. Can't see anyone having had MVG to win 6-0. In that form i can't see Wright having much say in where the title goes.
Davis Love III
Peter Wright to win...
Davis Love III
Such has been the quality of their encounters over the past year, I feel a little bit cheated after that...

The thing is though Lewis is perfect for mvg the pace he plays at. Wright while by no means slow will not allow the game to be played at that pace and that might throw mvg off his rhythm.

MVG-Lewis do compliment each other with their pace, and that will be different with Wright. However, it goes without saying, but Wright will need to play like he did in order to give MVG some trouble. I do think it will be closer than the likely odds will suggest.
meanmistermustard
True about Wright's pace. What's the record like between the two two? All credit to Lewis coming out and speaking to Sky. Far more class than Taylor who went into hiding; sulking and refusing to be interviewed after he was dumped out by Smith.
Davis Love III
Well, either way we will have a new name on the trophy on Wednesday. Someone will be adding themselves to this opening for next year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zf88cSijLPQ
