I've always just been under the assumption that whoever came up with darts was on a massive acid trip.

Yep, and the guy on that acid trip was some bloke called Brian Gamlin...

In 1896, a carpenter from Lancashire in England, by the name of Brian Gamlin, invented the dartboard numbering layout of today.

This numbering system of the modern day dartboards, has the number 20 on top, followed by the number 1 in a clockwise direction, then the number 18 etc. Brian Gamlins numbering sequence layout, was specifically created with the intention to penalize inaccuracy. Although many papers were written about the billions of different dartboard numbering sequences that could be devised with 20 numbers, it is widely accepted, that Brian Gamlins numbering sequence layout, is the closest to perfect randomness you will ever find. (Brian Gamlin died in 1903 before he could patent his idea)

Tonights games

Anderson v Klaasen -Match of the night no doubt.Dont know why its the first game.Anderson was good on his doubles against the thorn, maybe because he was under no pressure.Klaasen was superb against king so its a hard one to call.

Painter v Walsh - f**k knows how painter is still in the tournament but this one will go to extra legs i think.Another special walk on form walshie maybe ??

Beaton v Taylor - Routine taylor win and sid waddell having a stroke over some tournament average no one gives a f**k about.beaton will get 5 legs tops

Whitlock v Brown - The wizard should have enough class to see him through this one.

Looking forward to Anderson vs Klaasen big time tonight ... Sid Waddell and Stuart Pyke are doing it so at least it means we won't have any Stoke references from Sidney in this one.

Rooting for Kev Painter in the 2nd match ... he's never reached the heights of his superb run to the 2004 World Final but is still capable of putting in good performances on the TV.

The last two matches should be fairly routine with both Taylor and Whitlock in fine form so far.
