The Naitch
There were glimpses of the great Barney during the contest but Taylor just proved too good in the end. 18-12 victory for The Power and his 11th Matchplay title.
Marshmallo
He's just so consistent over the whole match. Fair play to him. -

Yeah, that pretty much sums up what was for a good part an engrossing encounter. Hopefully Barneveld will take heart from this week and go on for a strong latter half of the season. The game needs a in form and interested van Barneveld.
dubs
Perfect final for the sky hype machine. They fail to realise these two stopped being rivals about a year ago and they arent even the two best players in the world.I predict taylor will break him in the first leg and then cruise it. Sorry but they are the easily two best, Wade and Whitlock aren't consistent enough at the very top level to contest 2nd, even when Barney is at his absolute worst he can still hit 9 darters. He's still the best of the rest.
Neilly
Taylor is the Man Utd of darts. During that important middle period of the game (January time for Man Utd) he just turns it up a notch and puts a gap between him and his opponent which is a body blow to the opponent when they have kept with him for the early part of the game. Still at least it was competitive and tops of a tremendous tournament of darts. -

Barney didnt even make the uk open.Last night was the best he has played all year, but still gets beat by a few legs, must be soul destroying.
The Naitch
On current form ? Barney didnt even make the uk open. Only because he didn't turn up to the qualifiers. Only players who had played in 3 qualifiers would be eligible for the UK Open Finals. Barney only turned up for two.

DomDom
Not really the mentality you want from the second best player in the world. And Barney has been in an amazing place mentally, hasn't he ? Fucking hell. Barneveld is the second best player in the world. When he's off form he gets into finals. When he's on form, he wins them. There isn't another player like it.

DomDom
2009 World Finals. 2009 Las Vegas Desert Classic finals. 2009 World Grand Prix Finals. Basically more than any other player in that same timeframe not named Phil Taylor. The likes of Gary Anderson, Simon Whitlock, James Wade and them can turn it on now and again. They don't have the consistancy though and you can see them going out early doors if they don't turn up. Barney doesn't turn up and he reaches semis and finals. I can't believe you don't think that he's the second best player in the world. Whether he shows it all of the time is another matter, but it's clear that he is.
F_T_Y
European championship gets underway tonight, games are Nicholson v Andy Smith Walsh v Antonio Alcinas Terry Jenkins v Andree Welge Whitlock v Priestley Anderson v Caven Taylor v Stompe Klaasen v Van der voort King v Bates Going to be some crackers.Anderson's shoulder might still be hurting so he could go out early.Nicholson will want a good tournament to make up for his early matchplay exit.Klaasen v Van der voort should be high scoring. Its first to 6 so i reckon that match will last around ten minutes Edited July 29, 2010 by F_T_Y

DomDom
Time for predictions but with guys I don't know and the short format, it should be tough. Nicholson 6-3 Smith Walsh 6-2 Alcinas Welgee 6-4 Jenkins Whitlock 6-1 Priestley Anderson 6-5 Caven Taylor 6-4 Stompe Van Der Voort 6-3 Klaasen King 6-2 Bates
The Naitch
Interesting tweak to the format tonight in that there are no breaks in the matches. Given that's how they really do it in the floor tournament it may well suit those who do well in the floor tournaments. Andy Smith doing well so far, he's 4-2 up on Nicholson.
DomDom
Fuckers and their lack of a break won't stop me going to the loo.
The Naitch
6-3 win for Andy Smith, deservedly through. Nicholson missed a shit load of doubles, though, so it could have been very different.
Lambies_Apprentice
It can only get better from there I suppose...
The Naitch
Yeah was pretty weak stuff, any stattos on missed doubles? No idea about Smith, but Nicholson only hit 3 from 27 doubles in that first match.
