The Naitch
How has Barrie Bates qualified for the Grand Slam? Aye, they tweaked the criteria a wee bit with the last FIVE World Champs getting in (so that benefits the likes of Part and Hankey) as well as the World Cup finalists (which benefits Bates and Stompe).
The Naitch
Three more have booked their place at the Grand Slam. Mark Walsh and Vincent van der Voort, as expected, are now preparing for Wolverhampton. Justin Pipe, after a REALLY good month on the circuit, surged ahead in the Players' Championship rankings to make it. We'll know the line up after this weekend's play with the World Youth Championships concluding and the Wild Card Qualifier taking place. If Arron Monk makes the World Youth Final then, as he's already at the Grand Slam, three slots will be up for grabs at the Wild Card Qualifier. Marshmallo
I see the name Co Stompe Jr. is on the list of qualifiers for the World Youths. -
Neilly
Is it tonight the Grand Slam qualifier or tomorrow can't see it on the PDC site must be blind. Seen the entry list the other day and there is some wildy old foxes in there - Mason, Evison, Priestley, Fordham. A lack of BDO players though only Beardmore, Ross Smith and one of the West brothers from memory who are known.
Neilly
To answer my own question it is tonight. Been keeping up to date with the Youth Champs today with MVG and James Hubbard booking their spots in the Grand Slam of Darts and will meet in the final at the Premier League play offs next year.
The Naitch
Always easy to forget just how young MVG is ... still think he'll come good. The Grand Slam qualifiers tonight are all best of seven legs so expect a few shocks along the way.
The Naitch
Scholten, Mason and Fordham are amongst the early casualties.
Neilly
Hendo appears to have not turned up either. Probably just having a big dinner and forgot.
Neilly
Lloydy is destroying everyone in sight so far him and Pecker Woods the frst two players into the last 16. Huybrechts just beat Painter he has to be a threat going by the arras he played at the European Champs.
The Naitch
Mark Hylton and Colin Osborne into the last 16. Getting to the business end of this now.
Neilly
Lloyd v Hylton in the last 16. Priestley v Burnett in the 3rd round just shows the ridiculous amount of talent on show here trying to get into the Grand Slam of Darts.

Davis Love III
I must say, I'm really rooting for Dennis Priestley to pull through and qualify tonight. Getting into the Grand Slam would be pretty much his last chance for qualifying for the World Championship in December.

I don't think the Grand Slam is a ranking event so Den will have to enter the World Qualifiers to make it. Lloyd beat Hylton 4-2 to make the Quarters. Looks like Lloyd's main threat will be Osborne for a place at Wolverhampton. In the other side of the draw it's hard to see past one of Priestley, Steve Brown or Denis Ovens. EDIT: Osborne's blown a great opportunity - he's lost 4-2 against Ian White in the last 16. Edited November 4, 2011 by The Naitch
Davis Love III
I don't think the Grand Slam is a ranking event so Den will have to enter the World Qualifiers to make it. I wasn't 100% sure, but I think you're right. Just looked it up on the Darts Database and it is not regarded as a "Premier Event" so therefore not a ranking tournament. Speaking of Den, it has seemed that in recent weeks he has picked up some form with a good performance in the Championship League, getting to the winners Group. But the Qualifiers are a lottery, so it'll be a tough task for him, but lets hope he goes in giving himself the best chance possible.
Davis Love III
EDIT: Osborne's blown a great opportunity - he's lost 4-2 against Ian White in the last 16. I'm sure we're all really gutted about that result!
The Naitch
Priestley's won his last 16 match.
Neilly
The Undertake Nigel Heydon v Ian White in one semi. Priestley/Caris v Hibbert/Rooney in the other. Some run from Shaun Griffiths after getting to the semi's of the Youth World Champs he's made it to the last 16 here. That's a fair amount of arras the lad has played today.
Neilly
Auld Den is pumped out 4-0 by Caris. Caris is a right boring c**t I really don't want him back on my TV screen. Caris/Rooney and Heydon/White for a place at the GSOD.
