  1. It was pretty much an open goal for them but fair play to them, they did not bad. Or rather in their own style, thye dd ont dab.
  2. An unattributable sentence to a mate is hardly likely to threaten his career...unless his mate really does the dirty on him.
  3. Fair enough, just wondered about the rationale behind it. What's his thoughts on the HMRC approach to a CVA?
  4. Care to expand on this? I thought it was 'imminent' for weeks? Just how long can this go on for!
  5. Would hazard a guess that (going on media figures) it's because the chances of either bid securing a CVA are between slim and none. They either play for time to get in a better bid or liquidate at the end of the season.
  6. This depends...apparently if Rangers form a 'kind of newco' like the thing Miller was suggesting and simply transfer the SFA/SPL membership as if it were an asset, sanctions applied now would still count - so unless they appealed successfully, as it stands they couldn't sign anyone new. Alternatively if they started again from absolute scratch and applied for a new membership of the SFA and whatever league, no sanctions would apply but then they'd have no claim on previous history, titles etc.
  7. More likely they'll have renegotiated their current deal. They can't approve the CVA on their own as though the biggest creditor, they won't have 75 per cent of the total debt regardless of the tax appeal.
  8. He just views the game differently. I'm not saying he's not wrong (I think he is) but players and journalists have a different perspective - if the quality sinks and the coefficient collapses they'd probably consider this a big problem, fans on the other wouldn't give a toss about this if it cost £15 to get in and there were five or six teams competing for the trophies every year. His comments (and the rantings of Hateley, Goram etc) did show the main reason why 'non-football' people are needed in football to make some decisions. Footballers are good at playing football, as harsh and arrogant as it sounds they're just not smart enough to actually administer a multi-million pound industry.
  9. Ignoring Ticketus (who I doubt will put a 10p in the £ deal ahead of bad publicity and wrangling when they can get more) the seemingly massive problem is the HMRC - and they will absolutely not agree that cheap deal. They probably would have done if it had just been on the tax cases but now Rangers owe them what, £12m from last May? Say the cases go completely in Rangers' favour, this will still be enough to give HMRC blocking power and, there's no way they will then throw in the bonus of a massive deduction in what was money which simply had to be paid. Alternatively, say the cases go against Rangers to the full whack of £75m, add that on to the £12m in PAYE etc and a 10p deal would net the tax man £8.7m - notably less than the basic amount which would have been owed since last May. The HMRC does have a responsibility not to throw away public money but they also have a responsibility not to let Whyte/Rangers away with a wheeze which gets them a million pound discount on PAYE money over a nine month period. The numbers could be wrong but they just illustrate the point - hell will freeze over before HMRC reward the decision of a football club to simply stop paying daily amounts due when they can stop it and that means the CVA will require millions which (so far) TBK and Kennedy have shown no intention of spending. Rangers are still fucked.
  10. But they're not totally anonymous, are they? They were three picked from the 100 or so which all the clubs, including Rangers, agreed upon. This was the agreed procedure which Rangers were quite happy with until they felt something went against them and suddenly they're demanding 'justice' and a change...they're laughable. As it happens I think the punishment will probably be cut on appeal.
  11. Richard Wilson ‏ @Richwilsport Reply Retweet Favorite · Open So Paul Clark confirms on radio interview: Miller is newco route (effectively liquidation route), up to Blue Knights to prevent it Not able to listen atm, anyone know what he said?
  12. Think that's correct but even it wasn't, what difference would it make...if the Rangers fans paid off even a few hundred grand of debts, it's still pissing in the wind compared to the millions owed to HMRC and Ticketus if their deal gets bumped.
  13. In fairness to those who pay off the small creditors, the fact it won't make the blindest bit of difference to their club in the grand scheme of things is what makes it such a good gesture. They're doing what they can to right a tiny part of a massive wrong and these folk (or at least this action, maybe they're generally scumbags :-)) don't deserve the fate that's about to befall their club imho.
  14. There is not a chance in hell of that deal going through. I don't think the SPL will allow anyone to rip the pish like that but more important is the money - £11.2m includes the 500k deposit which is used for running costs and at least £1.2m for admin fees which must be paid in full. That leaves £9.5m for the other creditors which hardly covers the amount owed in tax since Craig Whyte took over. HMRC will not even consider this type of offer and neither will Ticketus, especially if Miller is deliberately winding them up now. Beyond that, he would still have to sort out a deal with Craig Whyte to buy his shares. Miller may be serious about buying Rangers or he may not - but if he's serious it won't be with these numbers.
  15. There's a bit on his blog talking about who he supports. And even if he was a Celtic fan, what of it? He makes it clear he could be wrong since he's using numbers from the public domain which are the best he has available.
  16. Some quality playing the man there. Ignoring the fact he says he's not a Celtic fan, thoughts on his figures?
  17. Would agree with that but don't even know if it will go on that long. The guy who does the Scots Law Thoughts blog seems pretty clued up and he makes the valid point they'll simply run of money early in June - player salaries go up and there's no way they'll be able to sell many season tickets with such uncertainty hanging over them. Given that negotiations over the CVA will take a while and there are legal time limits which stop this being rushed, they're now in the situation where even if someone could somehow put together a deal, they're likely to run out of time. The massive (not to say delicious) problem they have is that on the other hand, they'll need a fair bit of time to set up a Newco to sort through the liquidation process and make their SPL and SFA applications. So if they want to be playing anywhere at all next season, they may have to announce pulling the plug earlier than May 14. Exciting times :-).
  18. The number of fans, pundits and journalists who still have absolutely no clue about what's going on is amazing. I don't expect people to be experts (or even know exactly what's going on in the Rangers situation due to hidden details, never mind the legal and financial complexity of it) but this story has been going on for more than two months now, if you care about Rangers, hate Rangers want them to die or get paid to cover the situation, a ten minute spell on wikipedia to check terms like 'administration' and 'liquidation' may have been worth it.
  19. Celtic should write off their £40k as a goodwill gesture...they'd get mileage and giggles out of that for years.
  20. Sorry if I've missed something but why does this mean they're done for if Ticketus are still willing to be on board and take themselves off the creditors list?
  21. Yeah but how can they fairly apply a rule change to a current case? Rangers went into admin with the rules saying 10 points this term, ten next...I like kicking them when they're down as much as the next person but I doubt the SPL (given how welcoming they are!) will say actually ten's not enough, let's make it 20+. I think the liquidation rules were for Rangers, the admin rules for everyone else. As for someone who said it's getting boring, it is getting boring but it's not taking especially long. I think only Livi's second admin in Scotland was short and in England the majority take months rather than weeks as well. This one only seems drawn out because every minute detail is analysed to death in the media and on here. Indeed, given some of the potential legal pitfalls involved in this one (and god knows what we've yet to discover) it would hardly be a surprise if it went on, and on, and on...
